November 2020 Educational Program

17 November, 2020
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Lotte Hotel Seattle
809 5th Ave
Seattle, WA

MPI Washington State Chapter is excited to bring you our first opportunity to meet in person since March with our hybrid educational program, Tuesday, November 17!

Hybrid meeting? What does that mean? Registrants will have the option of attending in-person or via virtual platform. You may wonder, “What will the in-person experience look like?”

The event will be hosted by the beautiful, new Lotte Hotel in downtown Seattle.  As we advocate for the safe reopening of the meetings and events industry, it is important that we maintain exemplary standards to build confidence in the procedures developed to ensure the safety of our attendees. The building is shared with F5 and strict adherence to safety protocols is required.  Here are the things you should expect if you join us in person.

Removing our Rose-Colored Glasses: Incorporating Diversity & Inclusion in the Events Industry

As planners and suppliers in the events and hospitality industry our jobs revolve around serving people. But are we actively serving all people? Are we inadvertently excluding marginalized populations? Is our event or property accommodating, accessible, and welcoming to all? Could we be doing more to maximize revenue, ROI, and increase brand visibility? Perhaps now more than ever it’s important to replace the rose-colored glasses that make up our own world view and instead see through the lenses of our attendees and guests.

About The Speaker:

Chase Brunson, CMP

Chase BrunsonA proud Texas Aggie, Chase Brunson began his events career while attending Texas A&M University where he managed visitor parking for special events on campus. After graduation he relocated to Portland, Oregon where he coordinated educational seminars and conferences for the Oregon Society of CPAs and earned his Certified Meeting Professional credential. Curious about the other side of the industry, Chase left the OSCPA to be the Convention Services Manager for the Embassy Suites Portland Washington Square where he worked with planners to make their event visions come to life. Like many in our industry, when COVID hit he was laid-off from his role at the hotel but is happy to now be serving as the Marketing and Development Manager for The Rise School, a nonprofit preschool where children of all abilities learn side by side in Austin, Texas. A longtime advocate for the LGBT community, diversity and inclusion efforts are important to Chase who understands respect costs us nothing to give, but lack-of will cost our industry everything.
