Passport

DON’T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT! You will need your government-issued passport for travel to Mexico. Upon check-in at the hotel, each attendee must present the hotel front desk with his/her passport and Mexican Tourist Card, which will be distributed by the airline and stamped by Mexican immigration authorities upon arrival into the country.

  • All the participants need to look for the MPI Foundation logo once they arrive to the airport
  • Don´t forget to fill out your immigration & customs declaration forms during your flight
  • Have all your passport and forms handy as you approach the immigration checkpoint
  • Pick up your luggage at baggage claim
  • Clear customs
  • Look for your Amstar Representative outside the terminal

NOTE: DO NOT stop at any time to speak to people inside the terminal. They are timeshare promoters who will offer free meals and excursions to entice you to attend a timeshare sales presentation.

Transportation confirmations will be provided to each attendee as we get closer to the event date.

 

Transfer Time to Unico

The transfer time from the Cancun International Airport to Unico Hotel is about 60 – 90 minutes depending on the traffic.

Unico Hotel Safety Information

To ensure the safety and security for all guests, UNICO Hotel has the following procedures in place:

 

Hurricane Protocol

  • Mexico Government raises an alert and then acts depending on the level of the alert and region under alert.
  • Resort guestroom doors are Category 4 wind-resistant.
  • Hotel is an Approved Evacuation Shelter – in the event of a storm, all guests will be moved to the conference center area to concentrate the power and guest safety. Washroom facilities and food and beverage will be available.
  • An emergency generator is in place to support the entire hotel for 5 – 7 days.

Resort Security Details

  • 11 security staff on property at all time plus a supervisor.
  • Access area: 2 persons available always in both buildings.
  • Beach /Pool area: 1-2 people available. Lifeguards are paramedics are available during pool hours.
  • Lobby Area: 1 person for spa and beach area.
  • Various patrols are conducted by Unico security throughout the day.
  • Local police visit the hotel every day, as this is required by the Mexico government.  Direct contact with resort security is also required.
  • Q. Roo has increased their police security procedures following issues of alert in early 2018.
  • Guest check-in list is provided at the private gate.  No one is allowed access to the property unless they are identified as Unico Hotel personnel, approved vendor or a registered guest.

 

Resort and Nearby Medical Facilities

 

In the event of any medical issues on-site at the resort, please inform concierge, or front office immediately.  Resort internal staff and security will be contacted immediately.

 

Resort security is trained in medical first-aid and have services of a doctor on-call 24/7. 

Nearest hospital available by ambulance or vehicle is Hospitel in Playa Del Carmen– 20 minutes north of the Resort.

 

Pharmacy items

  • Standard Over-The-Counter items are available in resort sundry shop.
  • Prescription – The Resort Doctor has a limited stock of common items.  Specialty items can be procured at a local pharmacy and can be delivered to the resort.

Incidental Charges

All incidental charges will be billed to each individual guest room. Credit card imprints will be taken upon arrival to guarantee payment of these. All incidental charges must be paid in full before departure from the hotel. Tipping/gratuities for services are at the discretion of each guest.

Special Accommodations

Please advise MPI Event staff of any special accommodations that will be needed during your stay in the registration process. 

Dietary: Any dietary allergies or needs will be gladly accommodated by the resort.  A special multi-lingual card will be provided for your use during your stay at the resort restaurants for service assistance. Group meal items will be labeled for consumption with main allergens noted.

Mobility/Auditory/Visual: MPI will work with the Resort and DMC activity provider to arrange transportation and room accommodations, medical equipment as needed and afternoon activities to accommodate your needs.
