MPI BC Chapter Celebration of Excellence Award & Scholarship Nominations ARE NOW OPEN UNTIL June 1, 2018!

Celebrate your industry peers for their contributions. Does someone consistently go the extra mile? Do they consistently deliver quantity and quality on events? Do they advocate and lead change for a better industry? Below are the categories and criteria for each award. Vote as often as you like, for as many people as you like. 

Award Categories

Planner of the Year
The purpose of the Planner Award is to recognize an individual Planner member of the MPI BC Chapter, who represents leadership and excellence in the meeting planning profession along with a commitment to the local community and an exemplary record of customer service. Preference will be given to the candidate who is an active participant in the meeting planning industry (not exclusively MPI) and who has contributed to the growth and professionalism of our industry. Specific areas of consideration are: code of ethics; fairness and honesty; ability to listen; integrity and community involvement.

Eligibility: Planner members of the MPI BC Chapter in good standing. 2017-2018 Board Members and Student Members are ineligible for this award. 

Supplier of the Year
The purpose of the Supplier Award is to recognize an individual Supplier member of the MPI BC Chapter, who represents leadership and excellence in the meeting planning profession along with a commitment to the local community and an exemplary record of customer service. Preference will be given to the candidate who is an active participant in the meeting planning industry (not exclusively MPI) and who has contributed to the growth and professionalism of our industry. Specific areas of consideration are: code of ethics; fairness and honesty; ability to listen; integrity and community involvement.

Eligibility: Supplier members of the MPI BC Chapter in good standing. 2017-2018 Board Members and Student Members are ineligible for this award.

Mentor of the Year
The purpose of the Mentor Award is to to recognize an MPI BC member who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to inspire, motivate and educate other Chapter members. The winning candidate will likely be a member who is considered an expert in his/her field.  A member who has demonstrated openness with new colleagues and an eagerness to support their professional development.  A member who creates a non-threatening environment to listen and educate members.  A member who shares a range of experiences, and encourages others to learn from his/her strengths, weaknesses and vulnerabilities.  A member who strives to build personal relationships and abides by a strong code of ethics.

Eligibility: All MPI members in good standing, except for student members, are eligible for this award, including members of the Board of Directors. Excluded from consideration is the Chapter’s: President, Past President, President-Elect, and VP Finance. Preference will be given to candidates who are active members of the meetings industry and who have had a positive impact on the lives of others. 

Future Leaders Scholarship
The purpose of the Future Leader Scholarship is to recognize an up and coming MPI BC member and Future Leader for his/her enthusiastic contribution to the Chapter, demonstrated leadership ability, and active involvement with an industry association.  Students must submit a written a short essay (300 words) describing how you see the meetings industry evolving in the future. 

A copy of the student’s resume and essay should be submitted by June 1, 2018 to nominations@mpibcchapter.com for review by the awards committee.

Past involvement with the meetings industry, volunteering, MPI involvement etc. will also be considered.  Scholarship: Certificate and a $500 financial contribution towards tuition and education supplies at enrolled University.

Eligibility: All MPI BC Student Members in good standing. Students must be enrolled in a full time or part time program focused on event management, tourism, or hospitality.
