Hospitality and Human Trafficking: Combating Exploitation in the Service Sector

  • Dawn Fiedler, Founder/President, Join the Movement Events, Inc

Dawn Fiedler is the founder and president of Join the Movement Events, Inc. to stop trafficking. Dawn’s passion is threefold: for her husband and family, her relationship with God and for Join the Movement Events, Inc. (JTM), educating our local communities, what human trafficking is and how to protect their neighborhoods and most especially our youth. JTM’s mission in 2017 was to organize large group awareness events in local communities to educate our youth, parents/guardians and community members.

Dawn specializes in protecting our youth in the digital world.  This has expanded to include specialized training workshops for medical professionals, EMS Departments, Law Enforcement Departments, hospitality staff and social workers. The JTM toolkits are available free of charge and are facilitated by many organizations around the world and available to download from their website www.jtme.org.

Join us for an in-depth training session on human trafficking and its impact, with a focus on the hospitality industry. The discussion will define human trafficking and examine its most common forms, including sex trafficking, forced labor, and domestic servitude. Participants will gain insight into locations where commercial sex may be taking place and explore key areas within hospitality settings where trafficking is most likely to occur. The session will highlight possible warning signs and behavioral indicators that may suggest trafficking activity. Finally, attendees will learn what actions to take if they suspect human trafficking, ensuring both safety and compliance with legal and ethical responsibilities.
