Name: Sir Dion Magee
Occupation: Event & Wedding Lifestyle Expert
Planner or Supplier: Planner & industry Educator
Current Employer: Magee Enterprises, LLC, OMNIPEAR & Temple University
Member Since: 2014

How did you get your start in the industry?
I started in the meeting industry as a strategic meeting & events manager for Verizon Communications (in 2001) while following my passion as a wedding planner since1994.  Although, I wear many other hats such as: pharmaceutical project director, business start-up consultant and an academic adjunct professor, I find time for my biggest 2 passions
i. planning meetings, events & weddings too
ii. educating/teaching others how to be the best they can be in the hospitality industry

How many years have you been in the industry?
27 years

If you were not in this industry, what would you be doing right now?
If you know me personally, you know that I love all things music. In my earlier days, I planned & debuted in fashion shows, plays and musicals. I would love to be a musical artist (singer)!

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Franklinton La and Arlington, Texas. I lived in two places with my mother and father. Growing up with an identical twin, every-day was different, fun, and exciting. My brother and I were best friends!

If you could invite one famous or noted people (past or present) to dinner who would you choose?
I am a Momma’s boy so I would invite my mother. She inspired me to become the very best version of “me”. She would say, “Everything you touch turns to gold, so go with faith and not fear”. Although she is in heaven, I truly do appreciate the values, ethics, and the lessons that she taught me – they will last forever.

Which three words describe you best?
Passionate, Humorous & Driven. My favorite mantra is “Do what you Love, and the money will follow” by Marsha Sinetar. I am so grateful to be serving our communities and our industry clients.

What do you love about MPI NJ?
I enjoy the relationships that I have developed over the years. My colleagues and friends are so talented, amazing, and caring people who have shaped my professional and personal capabilities. It is impossible to follow and accomplish your dreams alone… I am so grateful for my successes along with some stumbles. As they say, it takes a village to raise a kid, so the same can be said for producing event experiences.
