Susie Schultz - HPN Global
Vice President, Global Accounts

Q. We want to know a little about you, where you were born, where you grew up, where you live, and what you like to do for fun!

I was born in Silverton, Oregon, a tiny little farmer town about an hour south of Portland, Oregon. (It’s no longer tiny). I grew up on a 5-acre small grass farm, we had every animal you could imagine, and one of my favorites was a white goat with a long white beard, and I named him Kernal Sander.  My brother, sister, and I were not allowed to have dogs, so we just made that up by all having all the “other” animals possible.  Fast forward to us all being grown adults now, we ALL have dogs. (: I now live in SW Portland, Oregon.

What I like to do for fun - that’s a long list. I like to spend time with my family of five, my son Ralph IV and my husband Ralph III, and our two furry family members, Bannar and Leo (Brother and Sister GSPs).  They just turned 10. Our son Ralph IV is 17 and graduating this year from Central Catholic High School. We like to spend time on Mt. Hood snowboarding, skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, and mountain biking. I like to exercise, I’ve ran several marathons, half marathons, and other mountain climbing races, particularly the Imogene pass race in Telluride, Colorado. I’ve done that race 6 times and it climbs up near 14,000 ft. elevation. I’ve also completed a duo female mountain bike race in Cortez, Colorado. I completed a half Ironman when I turned 45 and a full Ironman when I turned 50.  Being outside in the fresh air and outdoors is my happy place.

Q. Now we’d like to know about what you do professionally and how long you have been there.

I have been in hospitality for half my life;  I started at Nordstrom in sales during high school then into a ski shop in Bend, Oregon, at Mt. Bachelor for three years and back to Portland and Nordstroms again. The last couple decades took me into hotel hospitality and to New Mexico where I worked for Inn at Loretto Hotel on the plaza in Santa Fe, and then onto Hyatt Hotels and resorts all in sales. I moved into Hyatt Global Accounts and was there 13 years and then found my way to HPN Global where I am my own independent LLC and have a team of people in Scottsdale, Arizona, who help me site, search, run, and contract hotels for my clients meetings, events, trainings, or conferences. I just completed my 8th year with HPN Global. In between all of this I completed my associates of science degree. I’ve had a couple decades of hotel hospitality now.

Q. What are a few things on your bucket list?

Climb Mt. Hood, Start a foundation for the military veterans and help raise funds for them. Start my flower farm. Finish my degree.  Eventually still work for HPN but also help sell a city / destination.  I would love to eventually live in Caldera, SunRiver part of the year and Montana the remaining part of the year.

Q. What is your favorite meal?

Sushi

Q. What three things would you take with you on a desert island?

A lighting torch, water filter and down sleeping bag.

Q. What is your favorite time of the year?

Spring and Summer, but I do enjoy winter as well.

Q. What would be your dream job?

What I’m doing now, and to have a flower farm. When I retire I would love to run a community for aging people and friends where we can all be close to each other while we grow old.  I would love to go back to school and finish my degree in organic Agriculture and farming.

Q. Please feel free to include any other updates you'd like to share with us!

What I do for my clients now is help them save time and money HPN Global is a free service to you and all of the160 Associate’s worldwide have no less than 10 years of hotel experience, and we save you time and money. Many don’t know that our services are free…And our assistance does not increase your rates.
