How have you benefited from having a membership with MPI Ottawa?
I have benefited from having a membership with MPI Ottawa for the past 22 years from various aspects: building client relationships, mentoring students to help them with both sides of the industry, bringing me knowledge of the incoming workforce, attending education sessions has assisted me in bettering my knowledge and bringing me to a Senior Sales professional level.  I love attending MPI Ottawa events, they allow me to build stronger client relationships and to increase awareness of Fairmont Quebec Resorts by providing services to MPI Ottawa members.

I have interacted a lot with MPI Ottawa students. When I meet with students, I generally schedule appointments to discuss opportunities and share my experience from both sides of our industry (meeting planner/supplier).

Why did you decide to join MPI Ottawa?
MPI Ottawa is truly the ‘go-to’ for meetings planners and suppliers to connect, support each other, learning and making our industry the best it can be.

What is your favorite event organized by MPI Ottawa?
My favorite event is the MPI Charity Auction. I love being part of the Community Outreach Committee and to actually give back to the charities. This event brings awareness of all the needs within our community. As this event is following CSAE tête à tête (January/February) it allows for a national attendance, increasing partnerships. I’m looking forward to this event returning to a live format.

What makes you good at what you do?
Being professional, honest, with years of experience, and listening to my clients to ensure I’m meeting or exceeding their needs and expectations, has made me good at what I do. My top priority has always been having a positive attitude and trying to assist clients for successful meetings.

What are some challenges you are currently facing in your role?
Obviously with COVID-19 the last 18 months has been devastating for both meeting planners and suppliers. It has been a very trying time for all of us dealing with both cancellations and re-bookings. However; we are getting through this together and as a team. Much better days are ahead.



Describe your most memorable event experience?
The initial organization of the G7 at Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu has definitely been a memorable career achievement. Highlighting the destination, along with focusing on security and fine details allowed us to provide a successful meeting showcasing Canada.

Last words
Being in the hospitality industry is definitely in my blood. My first employment was McDonalds Restaurants. This is where I discovered my love of the food industry and customer service. Being part of the MPI Community for the last 22 years has benefited my career tremendously.
