How have you benefited from having a membership with MPI Ottawa?

I’ve made so many valuable connections within the industry after becoming an MPI Ottawa member and even some friends! Being an active volunteer within the chapter has provided me with the opportunity to learn new skills or enhance existing ones.

What is your favorite event organized by MPI Ottawa?

Hands down, the charity auction and dinner. It’s such an exciting event that typically attracts more attendees as it is held during “Meet Week”.  I’ve had the pleasure of being on this committee for a few years and thoroughly enjoy being a part of a team who is so creative in coming up with the most fun themes and then bringing the vision to life.  It does help that MPI crowds really get into the theme, it makes for such a great atmosphere.  And, most importantly, this event raises funds for charity.

What do you like the most about MPI Ottawa?

I love how we are such a friendly and welcoming group. I also love how many active volunteers we have in this chapter. It is so impressive and makes me proud to be a member.

Tell us about a career highlight or biggest achievement?

It was really exciting to receive my CMP designation in January 2019.  A lot of studying happened over the Christmas break of 2018 and I have to give much credit to the MPI Ottawa CMP Bootcamp!

Describe your most memorable event experience?

I think I would have to say attending MPI WEC in Toronto in 2019.  It was one of the first times I got to attend a larger conference (and not plan it!).  All of the education sessions were so valuable and it was really neat to see/experience some of the creative room setups and other conference features MPI had incorporated into the conference.  It really got us thinking outside the box. It was also a really exciting time to be in Toronto as the conference happened to take place during the Raptors victory parade, so the city was full of energy.  It really goes to show you how location or destination can have such an impact on your event.
