Meet new MPI Ottawa Chapter member Taylor Lundy!

The Intro: Taylor Lundy recently joined the MPI Ottawa Chapter and is a Senior Sales Manager, representing Atlific Hotels on both sides of the river, namely the Courtyard Ottawa Downtown and Four Points by Sheraton Gatineau.
The Pitch: Lundy shares that Atlific is very committed to making a positive impact in the community through initiatives such as the “A la Carte Food Recovery Program”, Cleaning the Capital, giving to the Ottawa Mission, etc. So, when planners book their meeting with her; they can know that they are supporting a business that gives back!
Early years: When Lundy was young, she aspired to be a teacher and spent her time annoying her little brother by forcing him to “play school” with her – with her easel and chalk –and giving him Fs!
Life Before Events: Lundy had two very different careers before events. She started off in gerontology, working with individuals with dementia and followed that as a flight attendant. In both cases, patience and customer service delivery were critical skills, which she uses today with her clients. Because her job as a flight attendant was seasonal, Lundy started working at the front desk of a hotel and loved it! From there she naturally progressed into sales.
Fun Fact: During her education at McMaster, Lundy leapt at the chance to do a term studying abroad in Ireland. It was a wonderful opportunity to travel around Europe. Lundy confides that she was inspired by the extreme hospitality of the Irish, they were “so friendly; literally you'd be standing on the street with a map, and someone would ask, ‘do you want me to walk you where you're trying to go?’”
Outside of work: Winter or summer, Lundy can be found on the volleyball court (“pretty religiously!”). She also loves to curl up with a good book (especially mysteries or the fantasy genres). Lundy is also the proud foster parent of a rescue dog, actively volunteering for Pawsitive Steps Dog Rescue. The only draw-back (paw-back?) is falling in love with the dogs! Speaking about love, another very special project occupying her time lately is planning her own wedding this fall.
Killer Keynote: Lundy would choose Mel Robbins as a keynote speaker based on her tips for time organization and also her philosophy of “let them”. A strategy to not be overinfluenced by others’ actions or expectations.
Top tips! For new sellers, Lundy shared that being real, and building relationships are what matter. “100%, you have to know your product and believe in your product so that you can authentically sell that. And really focusing on the relationship aspect first versus automatically trying to sell things, right? People want to do business with people that they have relationships with, and they want to feel that you're not just always having a conversation with them in order to try to sell them something.”
Never have I ever: Lundy confessed, she has never gone up in a hot air balloon (but really hopes to one day)!
Three words: When asked, what three words describe you - Lundy’s answer was: compassionate, thoughtful, and reliable!
If you are lucky enough to meet new member Lundy at a future MPI event, stop for a while, you will be greeted with a genuine smile and ask about her approach to business, or her foster dogs or other community endeavors!
