A Rookie's Guide to WEC 2017

SarahKayBroeker_2017Being a "rookie" at the World Education Conference in Las Vegas was hands down one of the most exciting experiences I have had! The relationships that I built and strengthened with my peers that week will stay with me both personally and professionally. The opportunities for education and networking were unmatched to any other conference I have ever attended.

My first class was probably the most incredible. I was invited to the Master Class "Deep Dive" taught by Bruce Mau, the Chief Design Officer for Freeman. The overall WEC theme was to "Stop Planning Meetings and Start Designing Experiences" and this class was truly the epitome of just that.

The general sessions throughout the conference were also a great time to get to know other MPI St. Louis Chapter members. Everyone was willing and wanted to share class content and what they took away from speakers. I completed 8.5 hours to put towards applying for my CMP and plan on testing for the CMP in November!

Coming back from WEC I am joining the Education Committee for our Chapter. With what I took away from the education and speakers at WEC I feel that I could truly help our Chapter in securing guest speakers and choose topics and classes that are relevant to our overall industry. The friendships, new ideas, and creative design techniques that came from this conference are truly a blessing. If it were not for the scholarship, I am almost certain the opportunity to attend would not have been a possibility for me this year. I am humbled to have been the recipient of the Bob Green Scholarship and already have and will continue to apply all that I have learned from WEC in my professional career as well as in my personal life.
