Women in Leadership Recap

WiL

By: MPISTL | May 5, 2018

Achiever, Maximizer, Developer, glass ceiling, wage gap, strategic, mentor and woman-on-woman crime – these were just a few key words heard during the Women in Leadership: Executive Leadership Skills course held on Friday, April 27th at the Hilton St. Louis Downtown at the Arch.

The 4-hour EIC approved certificate course covered case studies, in-depth discussions of executive leadership skills, and challenges and solutions of women in leadership roles. Prior to class, participants took a CliftonStrengths assessment which gave individuals their top five dominant strengths. During the course, participants created their own personalized action plan. At the conclusion of this course, the group walked away with resources for further development.

The Women in Leadership course focused on women in leadership roles in the hospitality and meeting industry and to help with self-confidence in words and actions. Participants shared their experiences, background and knowledge. This course stressed the importance of strong communication skills; to communicate in language that resonates with the C-suite.

When asked about the course, here is what participants had to say:

“I really enjoyed the presenter’s note on being good to each other as women. Don’t do the women on women crime. It really has made me be aware.”

“What a thought-provoking course! It has helped me understand how to overcome gender obstacles in the workplace. I walked away with information I could used in my current and future job.”

“It was a wonderful experience to network and have personal conversations with likeminded professionals. The course was not only educational, but a great opportunity for women in our industry to come together and discuss leadership opportunities.”

“The Women in Leadership course offered an environment that influenced open communication and sharing of ideas. It is nice to know that there are other people that have either experienced or are currently having the same experience as you.”
