Member Spotlight - Emily Thornhill

Congratulations are in order for this month's Member Spotlight nominee: Emily Thornhill, CMP! Emily is a native St. Louisan and has been a member of the St. Louis Area Chapter of MPI since 2007. She currently volunteers for the Communications, EduCon, and Special Events Committees. She is an exemplary member, contributing to the chapter and our industry through her hard work, creativity, and refreshing positivity!

Emily has been in the meeting and events industry since graduating from Missouri State University in 2007, and currently works as the Events Marketing Manager at Pure Storage, Inc. Like many, she is focused on virtual events at the moment, but has managed several corporate meetings, tradeshows, associate engagement events, and other special events. We can all agree with Emily when she says her favorite events to plan are incentive trips! No matter what type of event she is managing, Emily enjoys the thrill of seeing her vision and planning culminate into a successful program.

Emily's advice to her fellow meeting planners is to stay calm! Take a deep breath, be confident, and execute the best way you can. There will always be a fire drill, but what makes a great planner is their reaction. For those new to the industry or wanting to grow their careers, Emily cannot encourage your membership and involvement in MPI St. Louis enough! She is thankful for the many great relationships and friendships she has gained through our chapter, and believes continuing education and comradery are key to the growth of the meeting and event industry.

Emily now resides in Creve Coeur with her adorable pup, Fancy. Quite the dynamic duo, you can find Emily and Fancy exploring local dog parks or touring St. Louis together. It is always a pleasure when they join us for an MPI “After 5“ event!
