MPI Georgia welcomes new member Sara Spanjer, Planner-Coordinator, Meetings, Events & Incentives for Meetings Plus / M Plus LLC. This is her family’s company as well as her first job in the meeting industry. “I absolutely love working [with] and learning from my mom and brother-in-law!” Also following in her family’s footsteps, she joined MPI Georgia in January 2023 and is connected to MPI through her mom, Pam Spanjer, who is a meeting planner herself. In her current role, Sara assists seasoned planners in creating detailed events including registration, hotel sourcing, logistics, customer service, and overall success for their programs. Right now, she is working with a planner to source a location in Singapore for a client.

Sara’s philosophy on working in the meeting industry is that the work is supposed to be fun; one should enjoy creating meaningful, educational, special, and unforgettable experiences. Speaking of which, she prefers meaningful walk-up songs. When asked what song might play every time she walks into a room, Sara selected “Midnight Train to Georgia” because “it’s a wonderful song, and Georgia’s my home.” Sara also prefers fun television shows. Her favorite is Seinfeld because “it’s always relevant and funny!” Lastly, she has a unique collection that is special to her. She has been collecting Buddhas ever since she can remember. “They’re sweet, lucky, and tell a story.”
