Do You Have a Dream?

Have you been hoping for a key to take your career to the next level, enhance your earnings and bring you recognition for your hard work? Do you have a dream of showcasing your excellence and capabilities as a Meeting Professional?  MPI Georgia may have just the program for you. We invite you to consider making 2020 the year you earn your Certified Meeting Professional designation.  The Events Industry Council (EIC) states: "According to a recent industry survey conducted by PCMA, meeting planners who hold the CMP earn (on average) more than $10,000 annually than their non-certified counterparts."

The body of knowledge included in the references suggested by the EIC to prepare for taking the CMP Exam contain excellent tools and helpful information to "polish" your performance in meeting and event management. With the support of planners and suppliers as a participant of MPI Georgia's CMP Study Group, you will find structure and encouragement as you work to reach your goal.

Requirements for applying to take the CMP Exam have been dramatically streamlined. CMP candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of demonstrable responsibility for meeting outcomes and results plus 25 clock hours of meeting management education in the last 5 years.

Starting in August 2020, the EIC will offer the exam throughout the year rather than during specified quarterly testing periods.  In addition, candidates will be able to take the exam at a testing center or remotely (ie - in their homes).  Full details about these new procedures are available at the EIC website: https://www.eventscouncil.org/CMP/About-Remote-Proctoring.

With hard work and dedication, you can make your dream come true in 2020!

What?

Achieving the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation shows candidates have demonstrated they have mastered the body of knowledge of the meetings industry.

The CMP program is administered by the Events Industry Council, which is supported by 33 meeting and hospitality industry organizations. See https://www.eventscouncil.org/About-Us/Our-Members for full listing.

Why?

Why become a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)? From the EIC website, those who obtain the CMP designation mention their motivation includes:

  • Recognition: As the premier industry certification, the CMP distinguishes holders as career professionals who have demonstrated a high level of experience, skill and knowledge.
  • Competitive Advantage: The designation conveys credibility to a meeting professionals opinions and ideas, both at work and in the greater meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry.
  • Peer Acceptance: CMPs are immediately recognized by other CMPs as fellow professionals committed to the advancement of the profession.
  • Salary Enhancement: CMPs can use the certification as a competitive advantage when it comes to negotiating salaries and other business.
  • Personal Achievement: After passing a rigorous application and examination process, CMPs express a profound sense of personal achievement at finally being regarded as the exceptionally skilled professionals they are.
  • Commitment: Successful completion of the certification process conveys that certified meeting professionals are committed and goal driven in their career.

"I decided to get my CMP to continue my education as well as increase my credibility in the meetings and hospitality industry. Achieving certification has connected me to an entire community of CMPs allowing me to broaden my professional network and increase my visibility."
