About the CMP

The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation reflects a veteran meeting or hospitality professional’s capabilities and was designed to advance uniform standards of practice. Requirements for applying to take the CMP Exam have been dramatically streamlined and can be found on the Events Industry Council (EIC)  website along with other important documents. Prior to applying for the CMP Exam, all CMP candidates are encouraged to read the EIC’s informational documents for full details on applying for and preparing to take the CMP Exam. Participation in the MPI Georgia Chapter CMP Study Group will guide you through a review of the EIC's recommended study materials, give you structure and support as you prepare to take the CMP Exam, and connect you with a network of great industry colleagues as you work to attain this high level of excellence and achievement.

Why Join a CMP Study Group?

The EIC says those who prepare for the CMP Exam do better when they study in a group. MPI Georgia Chapter has offered a CMP Study Group for more than 30 years. The MPI Georgia Chapter CMP Study Group Committee is dedicated to supporting CMP candidates by:

• Conducting regular CMP Study Groups on Zoom including CMP Information Sessions to review application requirements
• Suggesting sources for meeting management education clock hours
• Scheduling Study Group sessions (3 per year)
• Providing an 11-week syllabus with assigned readings based upon domains in the CMP International Standards
• Informing candidates of best practices for question writing which assists with evaluating exam items
• Sharing tips for taking the CMP Exam
