Rita Ly, Atlanta Athletic Club, Catering and Events Coordinator

Joined MPI Georgia: January 2019

Rita Ly became a member of MPI Georgia in January of this year and currently works at the Atlanta Athletic Club (AAC). The AAC has been her career home since she and her husband moved back to Georgia four years ago. After a year, Rita joined the Catering office and focuses on planning the Corporate Events. This is Rita’s first planning role and she has found it interesting since in most instances she serves as both the planner and the venue. Her current position has allowed Rita to grow as an individual and professional in an environment where she is often challenged.

Recently, Rita started assisting with the planning of the club’s corporate golf tournaments. A few months ago, AAC announced that they are hosting the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship. “It is just such an exciting environment to be working in!” Believe or not, the PGA team is already on board, and the planning is underway.

Rita is an avid reader and started collecting books at a young age. Her parents encouraged their kids to devour a good story, so she has them to thank every time she has moved (with the countless boxes). Her mother continues to be an inspiration and the hardest working person she knows with her father not that far behind. After going on remission from breast cancer, Rita’s mother decided to fulfill her life’s dream and has recently completed her PhD and opened a clinic/after school program for children with autism. Lastly, Rita would like to share this piece of advice: “Every time you are stressed, think about if it will matter in 5 years. Sometimes I am so focused on the details. It always reminds me to think about the big picture."
