MPI Georgia welcomes Meredith Dollevoet, Director of Sales at Cartersville Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau, who joined us in June 2022. She was introduced to MPI when she worked in the hotel industry in Wisconsin, where she was a member of the MPI Wisconsin. “I naturally wanted to join MPI Georgia when I started with the Cartersville Bartow CVB.”

As Director of Sales, Meredith builds connections and promotes Cartersville Bartow to meeting planners, group tour operators, and individuals. She does this through membership and involvement in several organizations, such as MPI, by promoting Cartersville Bartow at tradeshows and through various marketing efforts, whether print or digital. In addition, since Cartersville is Meredith’s home, and she understands the importance of community as it relates to tourism, she is also the CVB liaison with the community working closely with the Downtown Development Authority, local businesses, various tourism assets, and the residents to create a welcoming atmosphere and promote this great destination.

Meredith first started in the hotel industry in 1993 at the front desk of the Best Western Midway Hotel in Wauwatosa, WI, and then she became the Sales Assistant in the summer of 1994. In reference to her subsequent career in the hospitality industry, she commented, “It’s all a blur from there!” What made the meeting industry stand out to Meredith was meeting people from all different places, learning their stories, and helping them. “I truly love to serve, and the hospitality industry afforded me the opportunity along with a great career.”

With not even a full year under her belt at the Cartersville Bartow CVB, Meredith is still exploring the extent of her work and role. “Everything is still so cool, but creating the Meeting & Event Planner Guide and the Tour & Travel Guide were the coolest things.” She is also excited to be on the steering committee for the Connected Resilient Communities program through UGA, where Cartersville has been selected to participate.

Meredith has been married to her husband, Dan, for 26 years. "Our favorite hobby is riding bikes together. He simultaneously keeps me grounded while embracing my free spirit!” Meredith has two children: Alex, who is 21, and Annika, who is 18, as well as a sweet yet stubborn dog named Ruby. She is so proud of her kids because they walk to the beat of their own drum. “This makes me proud because it took me a long time to appreciate my differences and be comfortable in my own skin.”

When asked what her next work destination will be, Meredith exclaimed, “Retirement!” She only has 10 more years and doesn’t plan to leave Cartersville. Her next vacation will be to the North Carolina coast. She and her husband will be pitching a tent and biking along the North Carolina coast for 3 days with a few 1,000 other cycling enthusiasts. “Yes, I do consider this relaxing.” She may also pick up a Christmas ornament along the way for her collection. Some ornaments in her collection are homemade, some are gifts, and some have been purchased as souvenirs on trips. “I love putting up my Christmas tree and adorning it each year with ornaments that remind me of my loved ones and the places we visited.”
