Setting Goals for the New Year

It is that time of year. A time of reflection of the year that was… and a time of looking ahead to what is coming. Between you and me, I love this type of stuff and take pride in the fact that I drive my teenage son crazy. We sit together to talk about what he accomplished, and what he wants to focus on in 2018.

Now, I have a platform to drive YOU crazy. Let’s talk about our goals for next year and come up with three goals, shall we?

Personal goal: You don’t have to share this one with me, and it doesn’t have to be something huge. My personal goal for 2018: Do something I don’t normally do at least once a month.

Professional goal: What do you want to accomplish professionally? Where do you want to be? How are you going to get there? My professional goal for 2018: Do something I don’t normally do at least once a month. (See what I did there?)

MPI Georgia goal: How are you going to use MPI Georgia to meet your personal and professional goals? Our chapter leaders are here to help you get where you want to be, but first you have to take advantage of the offerings and GET ENGAGED. Join a committee, go to an event, apply for a board position – these activities will help push you to where you want to be. My MPI Georgia goal for 2018: Do something I don’t normally do at least once a month.

Yes, my goals align. I wasn’t so subtle about it, right? 2018 is my year to step out of my comfort zone. It’s just that time in my life for a variety of reasons. I ask that you hold me accountable. Tap me on the shoulder at the next event and ask me what I have done this month that I don’t normally do. However, be prepared for me to reach out to you as well. Let’s focus on our goals together.

Happy New Year – Here’s to a successful, peaceful, kindness-filled 2018.
