MPI Greater Orlando Student Scholarship Guidelines

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID)  May 6, 2026

Location: Crowne Plaza Downtown Orlando

MPI Greater Orlando is proud to offer two (2) student scholarships for current hospitality, event management and tourism students to attend Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on May 6, 2026. These scholarships support emerging professionals by providing access to education, networking and industry engagement.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must meet all of the following criteria:

• Current enrollment in a hospitality, event management, tourism, or related program at an accredited college or university (UCF, Valencia, Rosen or other qualifying institutions).

• Active MPI Student Member or a student who expresses intent to join MPI Greater Orlando within the next 180 days.

• Interest in pursuing a career in meetings, events, hospitality, tourism or venue management.

• Availability to attend GMID in full on May 6, 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Downtown Orlando.

• Good academic standing as defined by the student’s institution.

• Not previously awarded an MPI Greater Orlando GMID student scholarship within the past 12 months.

What the Scholarship Covers

• Full registration to attend Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) 2026.

• Access to all education sessions, networking opportunities and chapter programming included in the event.

• Recognition on-site as an MPI Greater Orlando Student Scholarship Recipient.

Travel and parking are not included.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

• Demonstrated interest in the meetings and events industry.

• Professional goals and how GMID attendance supports them.

• Engagement in MPI, student organizations, internships or volunteer roles.

• Clarity and quality of application responses.

• Commitment to attending the event if selected.

Important Dates

• Applications Open: April 20, 2026

• Application Deadline: April 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST

• Recipients Notified: May 1, 2026 by 11:59 PM EST

• GMID Event Date: May 6, 2026

Additional Information

Scholarship recipients will be asked to:

• Confirm attendance within 24 hours of notification.
• Participate in a brief post-event reflection or testimonial to support future student programming including headshot. 
• Engage with MPI Greater Orlando on social media and at future student events when possible.
