MPI Kansas City Committees

As a member of MPI Kansas City it benefits you to be involved! Whether your specialty is fundraising or record keeping, there is a committee that fits your niche. The committees listed below offer great opportunities to learn more about MPI Kansas City, network with other members, and work toward committee goals. Finance

  • Purpose:  Maintaining the quality and integrity of the Chapter’s financials
  • Responsibilities and Duties: The committee will assist the Board of Directors in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities relating to the quality and integrity of the Chapter’s financial reporting processes. The committee will review the financial accounts of the Chapter and report to the Board of Directors no less than once a year and/or as directed by the VP of Finance. The committee shall be made up of those who do not have any financial authority within the Chapter.
  • Qualification: Numbers oriented, understanding of budgets and willingness to question financials
  • Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per Quarter, with one in-person meeting yearly
  • Training:  VP Orientation, Quarterly calls with VP of Finance
  • Reports To: VP of Finance

Special Events

  • Purpose:  To coordinate and direct special event programs for Chapter
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Coordinates special events for MPI Kansas City Chapter. Follows the Program Setup Form and coordinates with facility, chapter administrator, securing sponsorships, venue selection and on-site logistics.
  • Qualification: Detail oriented, has time commitment of 4 hours per month for two months preceding event
  • Time Commitment:  4 hours/month, two months’ length of time per event
  • Training: Orientation with Director of Special Events, monthly calls with Director of Special Events
  • Reports To: Director of Special Events
  • Events:
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Trivia Night
  • Roadshow
  • Annual Banquet
  • Purpose:  Coordinates and Direct annual awards banquet
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Coordinates Awards Banquet for MPI Kansas City Chapter. Follows the Program Setup Form and coordinates with facility, chapter administrator, securing sponsorships, venue selection and on-site logistics. Also targets donors to awards banquet silent auction component.
  • Qualification: Detail oriented, has time commitment, able to communicate clearly to auction donors
  • Time Commitment:  4 hours/month, six months’ length of time per event
  • Training: Orientation with Director of Special Events, monthly calls with Director of Special Events
  • Reports To: Director of Special Events

Education

  • Purpose:  Develop and coordinate educational programs for Chapter
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Creates and coordinates monthly educational programs around an annual program theme.  Each monthly program has a designated lead person who is responsible for developing the program and coordinates all logistics with the host facility.
  • Qualification: Detail-oriented, has time commitment of 4 hours per month for two months preceding event
  • Time Commitment:  4 hours/month, two months’ length of time per event
  • Training: Orientation with Director of Education, monthly calls with Director of Education
  • Reports To: Director of Education
  • Programs:
    • August Education Program Chair(s)
    • October Education Program Chair(s)
    • December Education Program Chair(s)
    • February Education Program Chair(s)
  • Purpose: Execute largest educational event for MPI Kansas City
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Organizes MPI Kansas City’s annual Professional Educational Conference by establishing educational objectives, selecting a creative program theme and design, and working with speakers to provide relevant content. Coordinates event logistics and budget, solicits sponsorships and exhibitors. Designs promotional and printed materials and post-event evaluations.
  • Qualification: Detail oriented, has time commitment of multiple hours a month for one year preceding event
  • Time Commitment: 1 – 2 hours a week in early stages and 2 – 4 hours per week in final planning stages, time commitment is over a 6 month period
  • Training: Orientation with VP/Director of Education, monthly calls with CP/Director of Education
  • Reports To:  VP of Education/ Director of Education
  • Purpose:  Assists MPI in giving back to community
  • Responsibilities and Duties:  Encourages selected charity to come to one of the events and give 5 minute presentation, research and recommend charity donations to the board,  collects items at each event and dropping off at selected charity (or finding a member to have items dropped off),   Communicating with charity selected, writes at least one article a year for newsletter regarding donations collected  at education & special events and overview of charity selected, if unable to attend an event, coordinates another member (or Program Lead) to take any donations collected from
  • Qualification: Strong interest in seeing MPI give back to the community
  • Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per month
  • Training:  No training required, Orientation with VP of Education
  • Reports To: VP of Education

Membership

  • Purpose:  Engage with current members to encourage continued participation and membership renewal.
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Ongoing calls/emails to check in on a semi-annual basis. Serve as ambassadors at monthly member events and meetups.
  • Qualification: An active MPI member, outgoing, able to commit time to email and call members (approximately 15-20/month), and attend monthly events.
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes/month, and event attendance as available
  • Reports To:  Director of Member Care/VP Membership

 

  • Purpose:  Identify and recruit potential member organizations and individuals.
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Outreach to potential new members, connecting them with our Chapter and information. Serve as ambassadors at monthly member events and meetups.
  • Qualification: An active MPI member and outgoing industry advocate. Able to commit time to connect with individuals via email/call, and attend monthly events.
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes/month, attend monthly events as available
  • Reports To:  Director of Member Care/VP Membership
  • Purpose:  Engage affiliate members, identify opportunities for promotion and partnership. 
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Maintain contact with existing affiliate members to identify ways to engage and deliver ROI. Connect at least 2 times per year, mid-year and renewal.
  • Qualification: An active MPI member. Able to commit time to email and call affiliates (12 total)
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes/month
  • Reports To:  VP Membership/VP Finance

 

Communications

  • Purpose:  Curate content for MPI Members and Partners
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Create new content or gather content from others to share on MPI's website & social channels. This content is typically released once a month.
  • Qualification: Comfortable with technology, strong marketing  and communication skills, creativity and vision, and ability to edit and revise content to market to the MPI Kansas City audience.
  • Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per month
  • Training:  Orientation with VP of Communication
  • Reports To: VP of Communication
  • Purpose: Assist in keeping CRM database clean
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Review MPI global list each month, checking email addresses and phone numbers. Make sure updates are reflected in Bloomerang CRM system. 
  • Qualification: Comfortable with technology, willingness to learn new database.
  • Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per month
  • Training:  Orientation with VP of Communication
  • Reports To: VP of Communication
