MPI Minnesota profiles supplier Heidi Sturmfels, Promotion Select Senior Account Manager.
Tell us about your business and your current job.
Promotion Select is a promotional products distributor. We have been in business for over 20 years. I have been with the company just about 18 years. We take pride in finding the right product for our customers’ needs. We partner with our customers and help to keep on track for receiving product in a timely manner. As a senior account manager, I am responsible for working with my clients to provide innovative and creative ideas for trade show giveaways, event and employee gifts. I also cultivate new clients and create partnerships with them.
What do you hope to gain from your MPI Membership?
I have worked with meeting planners for many years, but am interested in seeing the “other side” of how they plan meetings and see how I may be of service in providing product ideas for them.
If there was only one thing a potential customer could remember about your company, what would that be?
We like to think of ourselves as having excellent customer service. We like to say we are the “Nordstrom” of the industry – taking time to partner with our clients and providing open communication and customer service. Anyone can go on the internet and purchase promotional items. We like to be proactive and suggest new ideas to our clients. We also stand behind our products. If there is an issue with an order, we will go the distance to make sure our clients are happy with our products/service.
What one piece of advice would you give to a new supplier joining the MPI network?
Be open to discuss partnerships. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!
What has been the best piece of advice you have been given, and how has it made a difference in your life - personally or professionally?
I was raised by my parents with a “can-do” attitude. Hard work pays off! Also, I try to be a positive person, both personally and in the workplace. I have found that positivity creates positivity!
What are some of your favorite pastime activities?
I love to sing! I sing professionally with Exultate, a Minnesota based professional choir with our own chamber orchestra. We perform throughout the Twin Cities. We perform music that moves the soul! I am also an active member of my church. I have stayed connected to my alma mater by being a board member for the Valparaiso University Alumni Board of Directors for the last few years.
