Excellence in MPI Awards
Excellence in MPI (EMPI) (pronounced "em-pee") Awards are given to MPI Minnesota Chapter members who exemplify strong support and participation needed to help the chapter and industry grow and succeed.
Do you know a rock star who deserves recognition for the work they put in to boost both MPI and our industry over the last year? MPI Minnesota has an opportunity for you to show that recognition to a fellow member (or yourself – we could all use some self-love and care these days) by submitting a nomination for this year’s Excellence in MPI awards. Each year these awards are given to chapter members who exemplify strong support and participation needed to help the chapter and industry grow and succeed.

Who can be nominated?
Any MPI Minnesota Chapter member in good standing may be nominated in as many categories for which they may be qualified as a recipient. Members are also encouraged to nominate themselves.
Excellence in MPI Award descriptions and criteria
Icon Award: This NEW award is to honor those who have been legacy members for MPI and influential to our industry. The Office of the President suggest current or previous MPI Members to the Board of Directors for voting. Winners will have been a member for at least 10 years or more during their career in the meeting and event industry.
How do I nominate an individual, meeting, or company?
Nominations for the 2024 EMPI Awards will be available soon, entries are due October 2024.
STEP 1:
| Nominate an eligible individual or organization by completing the Excellence in MPI Award Nomination Form. You will be asked to provide a summary of how the nominee meets the criteria specified for the selected award category. |
STEP 2:
| Upon submission of the nomination form, the nominee will be notified by email. The notification will include the submitted nomination information, including the nominator’s contact information.

STEP 3:
| The nominee may provide additional information to substantiate the nomination through a separate online nomination response form, including more details of the achievements and letters of recommendation (if applicable for the award category). The nominee may also upload a personal photo. The nomination response form is optional. All nomination response form submissions must be completed by the deadline. |
How are the recipients selected?
All nominations and supporting materials are distributed to judges for review. The judges review each nomination individually and rate each nomination based on the information provided and how well it meets the specified criteria. The nomination that best meets the specified criteria for a given award is the recipient.
Who are the judges?
Judging is done by board members of another MPI Chapter. All members of the judging panel are kept confidential. Current judges are not eligible for an Excellence in MPI nomination.
When will the recipients be announced?
The winners will be announced at the Year-End Celebration on May 17th.
