We want you to GET INVOLVED! The MPI Pittsburgh Chapter offers a variety of opportunities for members to engage with the chapter and serve on our Board of Directors. Our chapter’s success is driven by the dedication and exceptional service of our volunteers, who help us meet the evolving needs of our members. Serving on the Board is a valuable opportunity to develop your professional skills, expand your network, and contribute to the continued success of the Pittsburgh region’s meeting industry.
The MPI Pittsburgh Chapter is accepting nominations for the 2027 Board of Directors positions starting April 1, 2026. In the meantime, we encourage you to explore ways to get involved by reviewing committee roles (we welcome committee members year-round) and Board of Directors positions. We expect to open applications for the following roles for the 2027 term:
- President-Elect
- Vice President of Membership
- Vice President of Professional Development
- Vice President of Networking Events
- Vice President of Education Events
- Vice President of Finance and Strategic Partnerships
- Vice President of Marketing and Communications
- Director of Chapter Content
- Director of Event Marketing
- Director of Membership Retention
- Director of Student Involvement
- Director of Strategic Partnerships
Board of Directors volunteers serve a one-year term. The 2027 term for board members will begin on January 1, 2027, and end on December 31, 2027.
Nomination Criteria:
Any member in good standing of MPI, whose primary affiliation is with the Pittsburgh Chapter, is eligible to be nominated and elected to the Board of Directors. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to dedicating time, energy, support, and creativity to the chapter. Only those who submit their applications on time will be considered.
Nominating Process and Timeline:
April 1-30: Call for Volunteers - Nominations open for the 2027 MPI Pittsburgh Chapter Board of Directors.
May 1-31: Nomination Committee reviews applications and conducts candidate interviews.
June 1-7: Nomination Committee prepares the proposed board slate in advance of the June 9th MPI Pittsburgh Chapter Board meeting.
June 8: Proposed 2027 Board of Directors slate goes to vote at the board meeting.
June 9-July 9: Proposed 2027 Board of Directors posted on Chapter Website for a 30-day contest period for general membership.
August 1: Approved 2027 Board of Directors slate due to MPI Global.

September:
2026 Board of Directors meets with 2027 Board to begin transition.
September 10:
Board members attend the MPI Global Chapter Leadership Summit (Virtual).
October/November:
Board members attend the MPI Pittsburgh Annual Retreat.
January 1:
2027 Board of Directors Term Begins.
December 31:
2027 Board of Directors term concludes.
