Similar to pub trivia contests and the successful team format from a golf tournament, guests may register as teams or individuals. Trivia Teams compete against each other to answer questions about the industry, Chicago and pop culture!

Each winter and spring, the MPI-CAC Board of Directors conducts its leadership retreat to form the strategic plan for performance and to identify future opportunities for the Chapter and its members. The Spring Retreat is an important start to the fiscal year, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership and a successful start to a new season of Chapter programming. The Winter Retreat continues the momentum from the Spring.

The MPI-CAC Holiday Party is a cocktail reception and fundraising event for MPI-CAC. A portion of the proceeds are used by the chapter to provide education and membership grants for chapter members.

Event Profile

Industry Xchange is an educational and networking event for professional meeting and event planners. It provides attendees a forum to gain new perspectives on key trends and issues facing the meetings industry today and what they mean for business opportunities in the future. IX 2020 will be Chicago’s collaborative contribution to Global Meetings Industry Day through a partnership of MPI-CAC and several local chapters of fellow industry organizations and will likely be broadcast globally through MPI Global.  When you attend, you will be joining leaders from all corners of the globe to showcase the real power of meetings, events, conventions, exhibitions and more.

The annual Golf Classic is one of the most popular events that the chapter holds.  This is a great event to have quality one-on-one time with a top client.  It provides a large marketplace for sponsorship presence for both major and hole sponsors, and is a favorite of the membership whether they prefer to golf or come later and attend the reception.  There is always a silent auction and raffle to bring added excitement to the event.

Event Components

  • Breakfast for golfers and sponsors during registration
  • 18 holes of golf and cart rental for 144 golfers (Sponsors on every hole)
  • Lunch for golfers and sponsors on the course
  • Non golfer activity - may be indoor or outdoor depending on space on the course
  • Themed reception following golf for 200 golfers, sponsors and additional reception registrants

 

Food & Beverage Needs

  • Continental or hot breakfast
  • Box lunch
  • Food & beverage for non-golfer activity over lunchtime
  • Reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails (2 per person)

 

Audio Visual Needs

  • Sound system and screens for morning announcements and during reception and displaying sponsor logos 
  • Wifi for registration
  • Power for Registration
  • If venue cannot provide AV within budget, MPI-CAC will find sponsor to provide this with venue’s approval to do so, with no additional fees from the venue

 

Special Concessions Requested

  • Complimentary or discounted greens fees (including cart rental)
  • Complimentary or discounted cart rental for (4) beverage carts, (1) cigar cart, (1) lemonade cart, plus (10) extra carts for volunteers, staff, sponsors
  • Complimentary or discounted food and beverage
  • Complimentary or discounted audio visual
  • Complimentary internet access and power
  • House tables, chairs and linens
  • Complimentary meeting space for planning committee meetings (1 per quarter) - small conference room with polycom

Event Profile

This annual reception style event celebrates the contributions of our chapter’s hard-working volunteers, and recognizes those who are making an impact on the meetings and events industry.

Space Requirements

  • Registration area
  • Reception space for welcome reception and networking celebration following the awards program
  • Space for 250 seated guests with space for VIP lounges and full production

 

Desired Location

Centralized location downtown with easy access to parking and public transportation. Venue will need to have at least two separate spaces, perhaps presentation space or a space where theater style seating can be created for the awards portion of the evening. Or a third separate space for the Networking Celebration after the awards program.

    • Heavy passed hors d'oeuvres
    • Open bar
  • Networking Celebration
    • Combination of heavy passed hors d'oeuvres with dinner stations and dessert options
    • Open Bar

Audio Visual Needs

  • AV is dependent on final content and venue selection: 
  • LCD Projector & support package (depending on set-up, may be multiple screens/projectors)
  • Sound/speakers
  • Wireless lavalieres, wireless handheld mics
  • Lighting package/ Creative up-lighting/Gobos
  • Unique backdrop/staging/podium
  • Video: pre-recording award winners, creating clips
  • Production tech “calling” the show, VOG
  • If venue cannot provide AV within budget, MPI-CAC will find sponsor to provide this with venue’s approval to do so,
    with no additional fees from the venue
  • NETWORKING CELEBRATION: Potentially multiple screens / projectors, creative lighting, etc.
