MPI-CAC preps to teach a lesson in building a rock star culture

By: Heather Warthen, H1 Marketing & Events | Nov 12, 2019

sign1From AC/DC and Fleetwood Mac to Jimmy Buffett and Taylor Swift, 30-year music industry veteran Steve Jones will have some stories to tell not only about those artists but how to build a rock star culture when he takes the stage at MPI-CAC’s annual Signature Luncheon.

“The theme is based on the concert-like feel that Steve Jones looks to create for his audiences and help other meeting professionals create in their meetings and events,” said Lindsay Woike, who co-chairs the luncheon with Amanda Jackson. “Steve has worked with rock stars like Gene Simmons, U2, Alice Cooper, AC/DC and the Foo Fighters.”

The luncheon, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Marriott Marquis Chicago, kicks off with registration and networking from 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. followed by lunch and more networking from 12-12:30 p.m. The keynote – “Creating Corporate Culture that Rocks” – will be presented by Jones from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Woike said in addition to networking there will also be a “fun photo booth.” She said the event is not only a great opportunity to network with other industry leaders, but also a chance to learn from an expert.

“This event is for anyone who wants to learn the ‘how-to’s’ on how to elevate your business to rock star status,” Woike said.

Romanita Ross, MPI-CAC Education Content Signature Luncheon liaison, added it’s a great opportunity to learn not only from an expert but also peers.

“The Signature luncheon provides everyone the opportunity to learn from their peers as well as from subject matter experts in the meetings and events industry and beyond,” she said. “The keynote speaker for the Signature Luncheon will definitely provide members with knowledge, motivation and experience that they are able to incorporate into their everyday lives.”

Jones, who is also the author of “Brand Like a Rock Star” and “Start You Up,” uses his 30-plus years of experience in the music business to create a concert-like presentation that will focus on collaboration, creativity, teamwork and leadership.

“We hope people will learn how to bring creativity, culture, sales and service to the next level and make your event rock,” Woike said.

The luncheon has also been approved for 1.5 CE hours in the CMP-IS Domain A; Marketing or Professionalism.
