For the First Time MPI-CAC Trivia Night Went Virtual and a Little Spooky

By: Erika Johnson, Chicago History Museum | Nov 6, 2020

mpi-cac-virtual-trivia-night-halloween-edition-photo (17) (2)In a year where no event looks like it once did, MPI-CAC’s annual Trivia Night was no exception.  October 27 saw close to 100 guests battle it out to be the victors of the Halloween-themed event.  Thanks to Zoom’s breakout room feature, teams were able to move in and out of the main “room” and into their team “rooms” to discuss, network and get their trivia fix.  The competition was blown wide open in the final round when more than half the teams wagered all their points only to come up stumped.  The final question asked how often the full moon falls on Halloween as it does in 2020 (of course it does).  It’s every nineteen years if you’re curious and don’t want to Google.

No dinner, no cocktail hour, just the game.  Did it work?  You bet it did!  The pros over at Go Team Events hosted and produced a quick-paced shorter version of the annual event featuring sponsored rounds and questions, as well as rounds centered around Halloween – candy, scary movies, Halloween history and more.  The winners took home free registration to Signature Luncheon on Nov. 24. Katie Barten took the Best Costume prize (a gift card to Fogo de Chao) as the Hamburgler.

Several packages went from bidder to bidder during the last minutes of the Silent Auction all the way until the clock hit zero.  The virtual photo booth by Pixelated rounded out the evening’s offerings.  The MPI-CAC Trivia Committee should be proud of themselves for what they were able to accomplish.   Thank you to event sponsors Go Team Events, Pixelated, Break Away, Marriott Resort Lincolnshire, Visit Raleigh, Laudi Vidni, Cayman Islands, and Conference Technologies, Inc.
