Volunteerism and Committee Work

When I was asked to write an article about volunteerism and committee work, I thought that the timing could not have been better.  This pandemic has found me with more time on my hands than I have ever had before.  By definition, Volunteerism is the practice of providing time and skills for the benefit of other people and causes rather than for financial benefit.  For me, volunteering to participate on one or more of MPI-CAC’s committees was an opportunity to stay in touch, meet new people, share ideas, hone leadership skills and build my travel community.  Joining MPI is the first step to building your community of travel professionals, but to truly get more value out of your membership, it goes far beyond attending meetings, whether they be virtual or in person.  Those who volunteer to participate on a committee are the ones who not only attend these meetings and events, but influence and create the content and the experience.  Why not get more involved because you will NEVER have more time than the present.  To learn more about the various committee’s where you could make a difference, please click on the following link: https://www.mpi.org/chapters/chicago-area/get-involved/committee-descriptions .  I would be happy to answer questions about our various committees since I have served on many of them over the years.  Text me at (630) 917-5888 or email me at rickhud@comcast.net.   Peace, good health and happiness to all during the upcoming Holidays and into the New Year.
