CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
MPI is committed to raising anti-human trafficking awareness within our communities.
As Meeting Professionals, we believe that we have the responsibility to be vigilant in ensuring that our events are safe for all attendees and bystanders.
As such, This year’s Signature Luncheon CSR beneficiary is the Salt & Light Coalition, a Chicago-based, trauma-informed workforce development program for female-identified survivors of human trafficking. This six-month program begins with a life skills phase based on the bio-psycho-social model, featuring activities like yoga, group therapy, nutrition, self-defense, and financial literacy.
After 150 hours, participants enter the workforce phase, focused on job training. This includes expectation setting and a unique Dress for Success program, where women explore and take home professional clothing. The phase also includes digital literacy, mock interviews, and professional etiquette training.
We will have two CSR activations at Signature Luncheon in partnership with the Salt & Light Coalition:
As you work on your summer closet clean out, put aside gently used business professional and business casual attire, shoes, and accessories to bring to the Signature Luncheon on Tuesday, November 25. Those who bring donations will be entered into a drawing for a prize valued at $200, graciously donated by our CSR sponsor, Destination Vancouver.
Additionally, if you have any items for donation for the work-ready kits reach out to Aileen Laracuente at aileen@miexperts.com to coordinate. A quantity of at least 200 new, unused items are required for the kits.
Matching will take place two weeks prior to the event date and you will be connected via email with your supplier.
If a match is unavailable, you will be notified seven days in advance of the event and will still be able to register at the member registration rate.
