More than ever, people are exploring what a life well-lived looks like for us as individuals. By discovering your Via Character Strengths - you can use that knowledge to face life’s challenges, work toward goals, and feel more fulfilled both personally and professionally. This tool provides language to share about who you are and what you 

  • value with others.  

Emerging Leaders will be a highly interactive, dynamic conversation led by Katie Bohrer. This time is all about sharing and exploring your unique character strengths and how to apply them to your life. Over the session you will learn about the different strengths and their applications, as well as have the opportunity to discuss, evaluate, and ideate ways to incorporate your new findings into your life to thrive! 

The Via Institute on Character is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the science of character strengths to the world. Their free assessment helps individuals identify their character strengths from a position of science and research. 

Goals & Outcomes:

  • Character strengths are the positive parts of your personality that make you feel authentic and engaged. Research shows that understanding and applying your strengths can help:
  • Network with fellow attendees and learn about who they are and how our differences can connect us. 

  • Provide a shared language for future collaboration, work, and friendships. 


Pre-Work:

  • For those willing to share their results – please email your five strengths to Katie@onwardly.com by Wednesday, February 23. 

  • Katie will be giving away an incredible self-discovery book bundle of her top five recommended books to better know yourself and thrive in your life.  

  • She will be drawing from the results that are emailed prior to the program! 


Program Flow: 

5:30PM – 6:00PM Networking & On Site Assessment

We highly recommend taking the assessment prior to arriving so that you can fully enjoy the networking time. 

6:00PM – 6:15PM MPI Welcome and Announcements
6:15PM – 7:30PM Know Thyself: Via Character Strengths Workshop


About Katie:

Katie is a dynamic hospitality enthusiast and has taken the 360-degree tour of the industry throughout her career. She has truly seen all sides of the hospitality industry, from working with Gaylord Hotels on the event management side, to a third-party sourcing agency, to global sales with MGM Resorts Event Productions, and overseeing operations for a creative agency & event production company. In her most recent role, she oversaw the ALHI internal events and pioneered safe meetings for the industry – hosting face-to-face events beginning in July 2020 fully incorporating safe meeting protocols, experiences, and design. 

In July 2021 – Katie launched her own event consulting & coaching company, Onwardly. Her company directs purpose-driven organizations in the experience design process to move their messages, goals, and intents of gatherings forward. She speaks and trains hospitality professionals in innovative thinking, safe meeting design, personal discovery and mentors emerging leaders in the industry. She is also a freelance event producer & strategist. 

She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and has been involved in both the MPI DFW & MPI Tennessee Chapters and is currently a member of the SITE TX Chapter.
