Our Opening Reception for Wednesday evening was moved to Thursday - the first full day of meetings - on short notice. The hotel reacted quickly and made F&B and staff adjustments.

Conference attendees were educators and because schools were closed and road conditions were poor, we experienced many first night cancellations and delays. As updates were received, they were relayed to Scott. I told Scott that new housing lists were sent back to me so quickly that they appeared as soon as I hit “send.”

Boasting 282 newly-renovated sleeping rooms, the accommodations are trendy, comfortable and equipped for both relaxation and work. Accessibility to the conference space is easy, meeting rooms are removed from the casino floor and the banquet staff members were on-their game. Self-parking is free. Guest internet – free.

scott-lewisFor dining, might I suggest Buddy V’s (TLC’s Cake Boss). Try the eggplant parmesan appetizer. Or, Burgers and More OR Emeril’s Chop House…barbequed shrimp over grits. STOP THE MADNESS.

Through all the weather forecast teeth clenching, emergency preparedness hand-wringing, attendee schedule changes and breathing into paper bags, I still managed to gain 3 pounds at this conference. That says it all.

Next time you see Scott Lewis at a MPIMP Chapter Meeting, introduce yourself and tell him you’d like to see the Chairman’s suite.

A major asset to this chapter is the makeup of the board. We have a wonderful number of meeting planners who serve on the board, which should be a selling feature to suppliers who are interested in serving on the board. The interaction between supplier and meeting planner will prove to be beneficial to all parties. Suppliers are always looking for ways to get in front of meeting planners and in my opinion, this is a perfect opportunity.

- Marc Kaminetsky, Director of Convention & Tourism Sales at Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board

I was so impressed at my first MPIMP meeting with the warm welcome and open arms. I am very excited to be apart of this chapter and get more involved.

- Courtney Babcock, Sales Manager - Chester County Conference & Visitors Bureau

Starting the MPIMP journey as a student member benefitted me immensely to prepare for a real-life job. MPI is perfect for creating relationships with others in the industry. I strongly encourage you to join MPI and soak in all the knowledge that is offered. The monthly educational sessions, mixers, networking events and weekend trips is a great way to learn more about not only what you want to do in the industry but also to find out what are the new trends in hospitality. It really is all about timing and who you know. MPIMP is a family and we all stick together to help each and everyone in this fun yet crazy industry!

- Kristina Voss, CMP, Skytop Lodge

What a warm and sincere welcome I received! It is a delight to be with a group of professionals in support of one another! Being with you all really makes me want to be a part of MPI!

- Susan Moran, That’s It! Wedding Concepts

I explored membership with MPIMP several years ago, but just recently became more involved with the organization.  I’m not sure why I’m most surprised by the wonderful networking with the friendliest group of individuals since they were there all along.  The meetings have exceeded my expectations with topics of interest and even when I’m unsure of the relevance to my current position, I find great value.  I’m looking forward to being a part of this group for years to come.

- Wendy Johnson, CMP, Executive Assistant to the President and Director of Administration, Pennsylvania Health Care Association

As a meeting planner, MPIMP has aided my success in business by allowing me to network with other planners and professionals in the hospitality industry. This has afforded me the opportunity to become knowledgeable on all the great sites and venues there are out there! The monthly educational seminars are out of this world and I’ve gained insider knowledge on a variety of topics.

- Patricia Stroble, Phoenix Contact

By attending the monthly events, it is clear that MPIMP has developed networking opportunities that are second-to-none.  Premiere has only been a member for 2 months and has already forged relationships that have generated business for our company.  We are proud to say that we are a member of MPIMP and look forward to a long-term membership.

- Jonathan Snavely, Spooky Nook Sports

MPIMP has provided me with a variety of learning and networking opportunities. From the affordable training programs to social interactions, my membership with MPIMP has helped me to grow and evolve as a meeting professional.  MPIMP is a great organization to be involved with and an even better community of knowledgeable industry professionals.

- Kristin Bleiler, PA Rural Electric Association

I was a member of MPI many years ago in the state of Virginia where I worked in the hotel business at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner Hotel and enjoyed it very much.  I am thrilled that the company I currently work for has agreed that it would be worth our time and membership to once again be part of this wonderful organization.  Being a Senior Corporate Meeting Planner for Highmark Health requires my knowledge and certifications are up to date on topics in our industry and to stay on the cutting edge to plan successful events for our clients.  I personally love meeting people in our industry and building relationships and partnerships that can possibly last a lifetime, and I am so excited to continue this with the MPIMP chapter.  I know quite a few folks that belong to this chapter and I look forward to meeting others.

- Jamie Bynes, Sr. Event Planning Analyst, Corporate Meetings & Events, Highmark Health

MPIMP has provided me with local and affordable educational and networking opportunities.   As Chair of the Silent Auction Committee, I have seen how hard working and dedicated the members can be in order to help the community and provide opportunities to others.  The best part is we do this all and still know how to have a good time!

- Lauren Ramsey, CMP, Wanner Associates
