That is why we are proud to support the MPI Foundation as one of the beneficiaries of our Annual Charity Auction. The MPI Foundation plays a critical role in funding scholarships, grants and industry research that empower event professionals worldwide.

After seeing so many kind words shared during our recent AGM, I left feeling genuinely warm and fuzzy — and maybe just a little emotional (in the best way possible). It made me pause and reflect on what an incredible journey these past two years with MPI Ottawa have been.

At MPI Ottawa, we recognize the importance of giving back to our community and supporting organizations that make a tangible difference in people’s lives. This year, we are proud to have the Ottawa Food Bank as one of the recipients of our Annual Charity Auction, helping ensure that individuals and families in need have access to nutritious food.

After 18 months, this will be my final President’s Message to you. It has been said: “Tough times never last, but tough people do.” To see where this chapter is after COVID, to see where this Board is after 18 months of service (versus the standard 12 months), this quote has never rung truer than today. I am so proud of this Board and this chapter, how we have grown and how much we stronger we are 18 months later. It's been a while since my last message, so I’d like to highlight the incredible work the team has done over the last few months.

MPI Ottawa Education Committee hosted an insightful and engaging online event on Wednesday, November 6. Award-winning speaker, storyteller, author and respected Blackfoot ceremonialist cultural carrier Elder Camille Pablo Russell led an interactive session focused on the importance of connection and how we can all build bridges between communities.

Reflecting on the EVENT and preparing for 2025’s presidency, I am energized and excited for what comes next. The connections we made, the knowledge we gained, and the ideas we exchanged will undoubtedly propel us forward in our work and collaborations.

As event planners, we know that every experience we create can present its own distinctive set of challenges. How about planning an event for the first time ever at a decommissioned prison…with no utilities or facilities (except electricity)…for a group of Association Executives…with a hurricane?
