The Professional Development committee creates, promotes, sets the foundation for and executes phenomenal Educational Experiences, lovingly known within the Chapter as our “e2” events! These e2s provide the MPI Potomac membership with relevant, career advancing sessions at least five times each year. Members of this committee are in charge of all aspects of logistical planning, from topic & speaker selection, room & A/V set, transportation and on-site coordination. We actively seek member feedback to determine which topics have the greatest impact on day-to-day life in the meetings profession and events are enjoyed by the entire membership, as well as the Washington, DC Metro community.

The Member Engagement and Community Outreach committee serves a dual purpose: one, to encourage members to get involved with the chapter and two, to enhance the chapter’s presence in the DMV and our local hospitality communities. The Member Engagement arm of the committee is primarily responsible for helping members feel like they’re a part of the chapter. This is done through matching prospective volunteers with committees, organizing the MPI Potomac Insider onboarding events, and sharing engagement best practices with chapter leaders. The Community Outreach side ensures MPI Potomac makes a positive impact on the community. The team will support three year-long nonprofit partners through advocacy efforts, supply drives, and fundraising. They’ll also organize community service projects and events for members to participate in.

Member Retention and Recognition is critical to the success of the chapter. This committee works to recognize and show genuine appreciation for the MPI Potomac volunteers who share their time and expertise with our Chapter and the industry at-large.  We also act as supplement to MPI Global retention program in engagement with members close to renewal time and contact those whose membership have expired to understand why they have not renewed and get them re-engaged in the chapter.
