The role of the Business Development Committee is to have a strong base of cash and in-kind partner support for MPI Potomac programs and activities throughout the year. We ensure the standards of recognition are implemented at all chapter events and manage the relationship with the chapter's contracted cash and in-kind partners.
Time Commitment: Monthly meetings (no more than 60 minutes). Four hours outside of monthly meetings for committee members for entire year.

The Career Development is dedicated to fostering opportunities for members to advance their career through industry designations and skill development. This Committee offers online and/or in-person study courses focused on preparation for the CMP exam and promotes those who earn their CMPs through the program.
The committee will also work with the education team to find programming that pertains to furthering the careers of meeting professionals and will assist with career-oriented articles in the chapter’s e-newsletter.

The Education Programs committee creates, promotes, sets the foundation for and executes phenomenal Educational Experiences, lovingly known within the Chapter as our “e2” events! These e2s provide the MPI Potomac membership with relevant, career advancing sessions at least five times each year. Members of this committee are in charge of all aspects of logistical planning, from topic & speaker selection, room & A/V set, transportation and on-site coordination. We actively seek member feedback to determine which topics have the greatest impact on day-to-day life in the meetings profession and events are enjoyed by the entire membership, as well as the Washington, DC Metro community.

The committee reviews and analyzes chapter membership data to better understand how to deliver value throughout the year and in doing so, grow the membership. This includes developing targeted communications as well as helping to coordinate events such as tradeshow appearances, email and social media campaigns, and other acquisition marketing efforts. Including an ongoing outreach campaign to members in advance of their renewal date. Member Engagement Committee is responsible for member orientation activities (known as MPI Potomac Insider) coordinating the Ambassador Program at events to help connect newer members or potential members with existing members and helping members find the right committees to keep engaged in the association. The Recognition Committee promotes ongoing member volunteer service and activities through awards (Star, annual Evening of the Stars), chapter articles, scholarships (MPI Potomac Cares Fund), and birthday/anniversary acknowledgments. This committee is responsible for planning the chapter’s year-end annual awards meeting and event (Evening of the Stars)

The Community Outreach Committee aims to get MPI Potomac’s name out into the community through community service and volunteer efforts and be the primary liaison with other meeting professional organizations in our region, including participating in the organizing of any co-hosted events. The Industry Advocacy Committee strives to advance the interests of the Potomac chapter through industry advocacy channels and will spearhead the chapter’s participation in events such as GMID (Global Meetings Industry Day).

This committee works with the volunteer leadership to help them better themselves and grow as leaders.
