MPI Potomac Educational Opportunities

MPI Potomac’s mission is to build a rich global meeting industry community in the Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia areas. To accomplish this mission MPI Potomac serves as a catalyst for discussion, learning, and innovation.

MPI Potomac offers educational programming to its members through a variety of offerings, both in-person and virtually. All of our educational opportunities provide meeting professionals with unique opportunities to advance their careers, impact the community, and champion the meetings industry. Many of our programs offer continuing education credits, as well as opportunities to share ideas and network with fellow industry members.

Educational Experiences (e2)

MPI Potomac's Educational Experiences (e2) series covers a wide range of topics each year, from navigating generational issues in the workplace and the issues of human trafficking in the meetings industry to negotiating contracts and improving AV production. These events offer our members the opportunity to progress as meeting professionals, and hear from industry experts on pertinent subjects. The e2 events are held throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area and are typically attended by around 100 meeting industry professionals.; virtual attendance options are often available for those who cannot attend in person. MPI Potomac Ponderings

Our MPI Potomac Ponderings series takes advantage of the virtual event format to bring education to our members wherever they might be. We are excited to offer interactive webinars on current topics featuring a variety of speakers and formats – check out our upcoming MPI Potomac Ponderings offerings here.

CMP Prep Course

The Potomac chapter’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Prep Course has been supporting students in their journey to CMP certification for many years. We are continuing the chapter’s tradition of educational excellence with our virtual, interactive course facilitated by local, experienced CMPs, featuring both pre-recorded lectures and live sessions.

Robin Troutman, CMP, shares: 

“I am not the best test taker and was concerned about passing the CMP exam. But the CMP Prep Course helped me in so many ways! It was great to hear from my peers and learn together with them. I am so glad I took the course and could pass the exam!”

Join a Committee:

MPI Potomac has several committees that support our education endeavors – you can contribute to our programming and help bring innovative educational topics to our members by joining our Educational Experiences or CMP Prep Course committee. Call for Presenters:

MPI Potomac invites all speakers to submit presentations for our educational initiatives. We are very interested in innovative presentation formats including case studies, panel discussions, and other cutting edge adult learning formats. We welcome all new ideas and encourage forward thinking presentations. Our Call for Presenters is continually open, and reviewed biannually in March and September.

Host an Event:

Showcase your facility and be a partner with MPI Potomac by hosting an event. Your venue will serve as backdrop for this event, resulting in the opportunity for key decision-makers from the Washington Metro meeting and events industry to see first-hand the grand services your organization can provide.
