*What inspired you to get involved with MPI Georgia, and what has your journey on the Board been like so far?

I was inspired to get involved with MPI Georgia by Melissa Legeaux and Allison Wagner. During their leadership, they closely followed the work of the 2020-2021 MPI Global DEI Advisory Board while I served as chair. Once my term ended, they encouraged me to bring that same passion and expertise to the chapter level.

*How has your experience with MPI Georgia influenced your professional growth and perspective on the meeting and events industry?

My experience with MPI Georgia has provided invaluable insights into the industry. Working alongside professionals from diverse sectors has broadened my perspective and enriched my approach as a consultant, educator, and speaker. I’ve learned to ask more thoughtful questions and significantly improved my research skills, which has enhanced my ability to deliver impactful work.

*What has been the most rewarding aspect of your role as a Board member, and how has it impacted your approach to leadership?

While I thoroughly enjoyed serving as Director of EDI, the most rewarding moment has been my selection as Director of Education. This new role is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate how EDI can be seamlessly integrated and operationalized into organizational practices. It’s a chance to lead by example and drive meaningful change within the chapter.

*What do you see as the biggest opportunity or priority for MPI Georgia in the coming year?

The top priority for the chapter should be outreach to attract new members from diverse disciplines. MPI isn’t just for event planners—it’s for speakers, photographers, venue owners, marketing specialists, and others who contribute to the success of meetings and events. Expanding our membership base will strengthen our community and amplify our collective impact.

*Which MPI Georgia event are you most proud to have been a part of, and why?

I’m especially proud of our 2024 Volunteer Awards event. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the chapter’s volunteers and sponsors—the people who made the year a success. Engaging with them was incredibly rewarding, and serving mimosas added a fun touch, officially making “mixologist” a new addition to my resume!

*What advice would you give to new members or those considering taking on a leadership role within MPI Georgia?

I always share the same advice: “Your membership is only as valuable as your level of volunteerism and engagement.” To truly benefit, members should be active by attending events, joining committees, and interacting with Board members. For those aspiring to leadership, it’s important to develop strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively. Engaging fully is the best way to unlock the potential of membership and leadership within MPI Georgia.
