JWilbur Smith EventScapes of Atlanta, Event Designer & President Joined MPI GA: April 2024

MPI Georgia welcomes JWilbur Smith, Event Designer and President of EventScapes of Atlanta. JWilbur is the leader of the team of creatives who design events for both corporate and the social market. With over 35 years in the business, his career has reached decades of service to families and companies alike. The everchanging market has kept the journey challenging and full of growth. 

JWilbur rejoined MPI in April of 2024 when approached about providing decor for the Spring Summit. Not only did EventScapes enhance that event but recently did so again at Spring Summit 2025. Many connections from other organizations cross over and this was a great time to connect at a different level.

His entry into the events industry occurred shortly after moving from rural Arkansas to Atlanta where he started working with a design company and discovered immediately that he loved events. The beginning of JWilbur’s career was mainly social events but over the years, he has grown to love both corporate and social events as it keeps the pace and challenges fresh! The company was one of the best in the business and he experienced tremendous growth with them. After a year and 9 months, JWilbur left to start his own business and from there, the journey has been a roller coaster of great times, good times and tough times! Through this all, it has brought him to a very good place, and he is grateful for the opportunities and continued growth personally and professionally. In fact, one of his strongest best practices is to always listen to the client’s objectives, create every piece with them in mind, and then take a step above and beyond the client’s expectations and offer a bit more when executing the job!

In the event that JWilbur discovered a $10 million winning lottery ticket, a “dream ticket,” he already has plans. With much gratitude, he would thank all of his team that has been instrumental in EventScape’s growth with big bonuses and an ongoing raise! Then, JWilbur would travel to see his favorite family members and share the wealth - starting with his mom who has ALWAYS been his biggest supporter through thick and thin. Next step would be a great vacation where he would spend a little time each day thinking about his favorite charities and deciding how to give away more money. JWilbur may even start his own business, a private luxury resort in a tropical setting for hosting high end events.

Speaking of his mom, she has provided JWilbur with some everlasting advice. As much as he did not like it as a child, his mom would always say: “If you’re going to do it, do it right” and she would follow that up with “Because if you don’t have time to do it right, how will you have time to do it over?” “This has been an ongoing way of being in my career. I always give my all with what I am doing, and I encourage my team to do the same. It is not about being the best, it is about being the best we can be that day because through that, we grow.”
