Major Changes Coming to the Certified Meeting Professional Exam
by Connie Bergeron, CMP Fellow, President, Site Selection Solutions, Inc.
The Events Industry Council (EIC) has just released the new International Standards 2025 and is projected to have a new EIC Manual, 10th Edition available by June 2025. These two updates (see links below) are being incorporated into the CMP Exam with new exam questions being Beta tested now. If you have been working to attain the CMP designation by studying the EIC Manual, 9th edition, you may want to join the MPI Georgia Chapter Spring Study Group which begins with an Information Session on March 18 and a Study Group Start Up Session on March 25th.
The MPI Georgia Chapter’s Spring CMP Study Group will likely be the last opportunity to prepare for taking the CMP exam before the new study materials are released. You are welcome to confirm participation in the Spring CMP Study Group , which will be using the EIC Manual, 9th edition as well as the PCMA Professional Meeting Management book and the EIC Glossary 2019, by emailing connie@siteselectionsolutions.com and Gregg Lauer, CMP, at glauer@etherio.com. All MPI Georgia Chapter CMP Study Group sessions will be held on Zoom and are available to all CMP candidates regardless of location.
The EIC gives more details on the development of the new 2025 International Standards in the February 2025 “CMP Today” article: https://events-industry-council-eic.read.axioshq.com/p/cmp-today/39fa6643-8b57-4ca6-b48a-c3b2d0654084?utm_source=axioshq_readership&utm_medium=web&utm_location=readership_navbar_edition
