This August I had the pleasure of meeting Maeghan and Hannah during a site visit for the Fall Classic. We sat down overlooking the picturesque 18th hole at the Country Club of the South and got to know one another. Here’s a recap of our fun conversation.

MPI Georgia connection:
Hannah:  Connie Bergeron and Abby Freeman were instructors for the Event and Meeting Management course through UGA’s continuing education program. They spoke about how valuable their membership has been and encouraged me to join.
Maeghan:  I joined a couple of years ago to network, keep up with continuing education, and learn from my peers.

How did you get involved in the Fall Classic?
Maeghan:  I reached out to express interest in joining a committee and Brittany Hinger suggested Strategic Events would be a good fit. It's my second year on the committee and I’m looking forward to another great event.
Hannah:  Joel Miller looped me in – we were at a 5:00 AM load-in for an event and he must have taken advantage of my pre-caffeinated state. I was very excited for the opportunity and have enjoyed the planning process with the team so far.

When talking about first and worst jobs, we find out both have F&B backgrounds.
Hannah:  Not including babysitting, my first job in high school was at a frozen yogurt shop. During college, I worked as an assistant to a wedding planner I’d met through my internship and that was when my interest in events began.
Maeghan said that she doesn’t have a worst job. She spent many years in the restaurant industry and loved the hustle and bustle of it all. "It was a great way to connect with people, and I think that kick-started my love for meetings and events."

Next we discussed co-workers.
I asked Maeghan how her colleagues would describe her- organized and a good problem solver are the first things that come to mind.
Hannah said her co-workers would probably say she’s hardworking, level-headed, and passionate.

This is a question I love to ask. Notebook or iPad?
"You definitely need both, but a notebook is essential when executing a program. Maeghan exclaimed: “Paper doesn't run on batteries.” Hannah added: “I’d be lost without my notebook.”

Pet Peeve on an airplane:
Hannah:  There are very few things that bother me that I can’t just sleep through, but one thing I don’t tolerate is when passengers are rude to flight attendants or cabin staff.
Maeghan:  Unkind people...we're all in this together.

Top three items you pack for every trip:
Maeghan:  Headphones, extra socks, and ChapStick.
Hannah:  Portable charger, notebook, and secondary form of ID.
