Summer is off to an exciting start here at MPI Georgia, and there’s so much to celebrate already! In June, we recognized both Pride Month and Juneteenth—two observances that impact us professionally and inspire us personally. We also hosted our annual MPI Georgia Classic—for the first time ever during the summer season! Special thanks to all of our member sponsors and volunteers who helped bring this event to life.

As we move into July, we’re shifting our focus to Disability Pride Month—a time to honor the unique experiences, contributions, and resilience of people with disabilities. These folks have long contributed to our industry as professionals, creatives, attendees and activists. From producing inclusive content and experiences to advocating for accessible venues and accommodations, their influence continues to push the industry forward.

Shout out MPI Georgia members who are taking active steps to make this kind of difference. I’m proud to say, as an ambassador of AFR Furniture Rental, we are one such proponent. Recently, we introduced our very first ADA-compliant bar—designed for guests using wheelchairs and friends of short stature.

So while we continue to make strides, there's still plenty of work to be done to ensure true accessibility and inclusion at every touchpoint. 

I’m also excited to spotlight fellow member Julia Oliveira, who is spearheading this month’s volunteer initiative with Another Chance of Atlanta’s Back-to-School Community Giveaway on Thursday, July 25.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back—volunteers will help distribute school supplies and food to families in need. It’s a powerful way to support local youth as they gear up for a new school year.
