Introducing Antwain Peterson

National Account Director

Travel Portland

Joined MPI Georgia: September 2025

MPI GA welcomes Antwain Peterson, National Account Director, Travel Portland. Antwain joined MPI GA in September 2025 to build stronger connections, stay engaged with industry trends, share best practices and contribute to a community that continues to elevate the meetings and events profession.

In Antwain’s words:

“As National Account Director for the Southern Region at Travel Portland, I am proud to represent the city where I was born and raised. Portland shaped my values, my work ethic, and my passion for hospitality. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, from hotel operations to executive-level sales, I bring a well-rounded perspective to every client partnership.

I began my career as a hotel houseman and worked my way up to leadership roles, including serving as Director of Sales and Marketing at Kimpton Hotels, before moving to the Convention & Visitors Bureau Side. A personal highlight was becoming Director of Sales at the same hotel where my mom once worked as a housekeeper.

When I am not working, you can usually find me with my 10-year-old daughter Ava, who keeps me both on my toes and in my wallet.”

In my current role, I connect meeting and event planners with the best of Portland—our hotels, venues, and citywide experiences—to make their conferences successful and unforgettable. My favorite part is welcoming groups from all around the world to the city where I am born and raised.

One of my funniest memories can recall happened during a site visit. A planner asked me if Portland really had 'that famous donut place with cereal on top.' I said yes, and to prove it I showed up to the next morning’s meeting with a pink box of Voodoo Doughnuts. The client got powdered sugar all over their suit while trying to eat one in between hotel tours, and we all laughed so hard the hotels jumped in to grab napkins. It turned into an instant icebreaker and one of the most memorable site visits I have ever hosted.
