Making the Most of IMEX: Tips for Attendees and Exhibitors
Every year, thousands of industry professionals gather at IMEX to discover new ideas, strengthen relationships, and explore what's next in meetings and events. Whether you're walking the show floor or exhibiting, success rarely happens by accident. A little preparation goes a long way.
For Attendees:
- Set your priorities before you arrive. You won't be able to see everything.
- Schedule key appointments in advance but leave room for unexpected conversations.
- Attend education sessions that challenge your thinking, not just those that reinforce what you already know.
- Take notes throughout the event while ideas are fresh.
- Follow up with new connections within a few days of returning home.
For Exhibitors:
- Start with clear objectives. Know what success looks like before the show begins.
- Train your booth staff to engage in conversations, not just greet attendees.
- Focus on quality interactions rather than the number of badge scans.
- Create an experience that reflects your brand and gives attendees a reason to stop.
- Plan your follow-up strategy before the event. The real work often begins after the exhibit hall closes.
Whether you're attending or exhibiting, IMEX is more than a trade show. It's an opportunity to learn, build relationships, and discover new ways to elevate your events. The organizations that get the most from IMEX are the ones that arrive with a plan, remain open to new ideas, and continue the conversation long after the event ends.
