Retooling for Today's Market

Contracts in today’s market present new challenges on a daily basis. Tyra Warner, a former meetings industry attorney and named by MPI as one of the “50 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry,” will  cover all the hottest issues including; increased costs (inflation), deposits, and staffing concerns. We’ll also revisit long-standing issues and where to take the conversation today such as; language in a contract to address political or ethical issues in the host city, force majeure and what it does/doesn’t include, and as always… attrition! Join us for this insightful look into a planner’s upgraded toolkit in contracting – and a supplier’s heads up on what’s important to their clients right now.

Keynote Speaker - Dr. Tyra Warner, Esq. PhD, Esq, CMP
 

Tyra Warner, PhD, Esq, CMP is an attorney and professor whose expertise is in legal and crisis preparedness issues for the meetings, events, and hospitality industries. She is a professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the College of Coastal Georgia, teaching courses in law, crisis management, and meetings and events. She is published and widely quoted on legal and crisis management issues in academic and trade publications.

Tyra has received national recognition for her contributions to industry best practices initiatives with the Events Industry Council and Meeting Professionals International. Her 25-year meetings industry career has included management roles in hotels, travel, destination marketing, associations, catering, law, and academia. She is one of only two people in the world who is a practicing attorney, has a Ph.D. in Hospitality, and has earned the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation.

Planner Rate: $0 (This offer is for the first 15 planners to take advantage of. Planners who take advantage of this offer will be paired with a supplier to network and sit with during the program. This offer is available for both members and prospective members.)
Supplier Table: $500 (Suppliers who take advantage of this offer will be placed at a reserved VIP table with 4+ planners. This offer is available for both members and prospective members.)

Cancellation Policy:
If you need to cancel your registration a full refund will be granted if cancellation is received in writing before 5:00 PM on May 4. After that time there will be no refunds. Please send cancellation notice to info@mpigeorgia.org. Additionally, registration fees may not be applied or transferred to future events.

Substitution Policy:
If you have registered but are unable to attend the meeting, you may substitute another employee from your company at no additional charge. Please send written notification of this change before 5:00 PM on May 4 to info@mpigeorgia.org. After that time, substitutions will need to be made onsite.
