Elina Acosta is the Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force Coordinator with Georgia’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). At CJCC, she works within the Human Trafficking Unit to coordinate statewide special projects and secure grant funds. Special projects include coordinating the Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force, as well as assisting on the Agriculture Labor Trafficking Task Force. As the coordinator, she provides programmatic support to the Task Force’s various workgroups, subcommittees, initiatives, strategic planning, and special projects. Within these initiatives, she moderates the discussions of the members of each group, as well as leads to the development and implementation of their chosen yearly projects focused on an aspect of enhancing Georgia’s anti-trafficking response. As the coordinator of special projects, she also represents Georgia on national initiatives like sitting on the Steering Committee for the National Labor Trafficking Training and participating on the Region 4 Collaborative initiative that brings together the southeastern states to discuss issues of human trafficking and come up with proactive solutions. Regarding grants, Elina leads the writing and application process for federal grants with CJCC’s Human Trafficking unit. She evaluates and researches a grant’s compatibility with Georgia’s programs and initiatives, and strategically plans for new opportunities to support Georgia’s programs, victims, and stakeholders. Additionally, Elina assists in the development and coordination of statewide human trafficking training to various disciplines across the state (law enforcement, prosecution, victim service providers, government professionals, business and university partners, and community members).
