January Education: The Brand of YOU

All of us are unique and, like it or not, represent a personal brand - the brand of YOU. This session reviews the disciplines of business branding and applies them to the process of creating, developing, managing and protecting your personal brand.

How you present yourself, how you behave and how you are perceived by your professional peers will determine your personal brand and your potential level of success in your career (and life). After all, if you don’t brand yourself, other people will. And, chances are they won’t brand you in the way you want to be branded. If you are not conscious of your personal brand and don’t work on it, you may fall short of your career opportunities and aspirations. 

In this informative and entertaining session, the audience will be engaged with interactive exercises, while speaker Michael J. Lyons walks the audience through a road map of how to enhance and sustain your personal brand.

Speaker Bio:

Michael J. Lyons is a Philadelphia-based author, professional speaker, actor, entrepreneur, and former hospitality industry executive. Mike's career has spanned 50 years and includes senior management roles with CIGNA, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Global Events Partners, EGR International and Reed Exhibitions where he served as Exhibition Director of IBTM America.

Mike has been a very active participant in the meetings industry throughout his career, earning numerous honors and awards for his contributions to multiple hospitality industry organizations, including Supplier of the Year (MPI PHL), and Partner of the Year (MPI PHL – twice). He also held the following positions for the MPI Philadelphia Chapter over the years: Vice President, Finance; Director of Membership; Director of Monthly Programs.

At the national level, MPI named Mike as one of the “MPI 50 Most Influential Members” in MPI’s 50-year history. He was recognized for this distinction at the MPI WEC in June in San Francisco. He was also awarded an MPI Lifetime Membership by MPI earlier this year.

On the local level, Mike served on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia CVB for 8 years, on the Advisory Board of Visit Philadelphia, and on the Board of the Association of Destination Management Executives International.

As an author, Mike wrote the highly acclaimed book "Set Yourself Free: Daydream it... Believe it... Achieve it!” and has been a professional actor for the past 30 years with dozens of credits in films, TV shows, and commercials. He has had speaking parts in “House of Cards”, “The Sixth Sense,” “All My Children,” “Veep,” “What Would You Do?”, and the 2022 HBO series “We Own This City”, among others.
