Design Thinking – Rethinking the Status Quo

Have you ever asked yourself if it is possible to rethink how you build your meetings? This task is usually left to experienced creative directors and meeting strategists. However, that does not mean that you and your team are unable to get the job done.

Join us for an insightful MPI Professional Development Session on July 16^th to find out ways to apply design thinking to improve and invigorate your meetings. We will explore and experience together this methodology applied to our industry.

Our keynote speaker Chris Chambers, CEO at MJM Creative, has over 30 years of experience in the corporate meetings and events industry. Chris spent many years designing and building trade show exhibits. He regularly develops and presents unique experiences on specific industry topics at universities, client forums and industry events.

The session will begin with an interactive keynote presentation followed by group work. Together, the small groups will apply the methodologies and tools discussed in the keynote portion of the program, to solve challenges in three real life scenarios. The final portion of the workshop will include a panel with a corporate meeting planner, an association planner, a venue representative and a partner supplier. Moderated by Chris, our panelists will explore how elements of design thinking have worked or could work for them.

You will walk away from this workshop understanding what design thinking means and the theory around it. You will see a prescribed methodology and tools to support it, understand and experience simple ways to apply the methodology, as well as a view into the more complex nature of design thinking and the depth at which it can be applied if truly embraced.
