Breakout 1: Performative vs Meaningful & Why You Need to Know the Difference
Facilitated by Keziah Myers, Executive Director of ADVANCE, Canada’s Black Music Business Collective. Keziah’s favourite quote: Diversity is being asked to the party. Inclusion is being asked to Dance. Belonging is being a part of the planning committee.” This facilitated discussion will be participatory in nature and attendees will have the opportunity to learn together and ask questions in a safe environment.

Breakout 2: Diversity in Events Beyond BHM | Makesha Miles
Facilitated by Makesha Miles, Events Manager at BMO Financial Group. Years ago, a mentor once said: ‘As an event professional, you are only as good as your suppliers.’  This has stuck with me ever since. Building relationships on a strong foundation is important as a planner.  If you don’t broaden your lens, you’ll never know if you are truly serving your clients at your best.” This dynamic discussion will incorporate strategies and best practices for harnessing the power of diversity for all of your 2022 events and beyond. Participants are encouraged to attend with questions!
