BEYOND APPEARANCES: EMBRACING INCLUSION THROUGH THE LENS OF VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE DISABILITIES
In celebration of International Women’s Month, Karolina’s powerful story stands as a testament to overcoming barriers and embracing inclusion. Born in communist Poland with cerebral palsy, she defied the odds to reach the pinnacle of Paralympic alpine skiing, becoming a World Champion at just 19 and winning 8 Paralympic medals across 3 Games.
Her career, though marked by incredible triumphs, also faced significant challenges, including high-speed crashes and multiple concussions. These struggles led her to retire from skiing twice, yet deepened her journey towards understanding neurodiversity and the complex intersection of gender and disability.
Karolina’s personal experience shines a light on the resilience of women in the face of adversity, showing how they rise above the invisible and visible barriers they encounter.
Her story not only celebrates the achievements of women with disabilities but also challenges societal perceptions of true inclusion.
This session will empower event professionals with tangible strategies to support and elevate women within the industry, while advancing equity and inclusion for all women, regardless of the visible or invisible challenges they face.
