Don’t You Forget About MarCom

Blog Committee Spotlight MarCom: Text 'You see us as creatives—but we're a little bit of everything.' images of social media hearts and likes, and a megaphone.

By: Katy Billig | Jul 2, 2025

If the Marketing & Communications Committee were a movie, we’d be The Breakfast Club—a mix of different talents and personalities who come together to make magic (and maybe drop a few iconic one-liners along the way). Whether it’s snapping social content, crafting the monthly newsletter, or developing campaigns that shine a spotlight on our events and programs, this team is all about storytelling, creativity, and connection.

Our volunteers help bring MPI Minnesota’s message to life—making sure our members stay informed, our events stay top-of-mind, and our community stays inspired. From email to Instagram, press releases to punchy blog posts—if it’s public-facing, the MarCom team is behind it.

Why Volunteer with MarCom?

  • Use your voice (and/or visuals—whichever is your jam) to shape our chapter’s brand
  • Learn new tools like social schedulers and email platforms
  • Collaborate with creative, passionate professionals
  • Find your niche—whether you have 1 hour a month or 1 hour a week

A Few Open Roles (click here for full role descriptions):

  • Email Volunteer – Help craft promotional emails for chapter events, membership, or sponsorship. Training is provided, and content is typically drafted by the planning committee!
  • Newsletter Volunteer – Assist with MPI’s quick-read newsletter (sent 8x/year). It's a great way to get involved in communications without a huge time commitment.
  • Website Volunteer – Got a knack for visuals or content? Help keep our website fresh and fabulous—from updating deadlines to auditing content and supporting our blog.
  • Committee Liaison (2 openings) – Attend another committee’s monthly meeting as the eyes and ears of Mar/Comm—then share updates and needs with our team. A great way to cross-collaborate!
  • Social Media Volunteer – Help post and schedule content for MPI MN’s Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Great for building your skills in community management and analytics.

The Vibe
We work hard, laugh a lot, and love a good gif. If you’ve ever crafted a killer caption, coordinated a campaign, or simply enjoy sharing good news, there’s a place for you here. No marketing degree required—just creativity, collaboration, and a willingness to jump in.
