When I first started volunteering with the MPI Minnesota Chapter, I was new to the industry and eager to grow. I was looking to build leadership skills and learn from others. That first step—over 10 years ago—has led to so much more.
I began with Community Outreach, helped launch the chapter's EDI Task Force, and now serve as Vice President of Education. In this role, I focus on enhancing the attendee experience and championing inclusion, including neuroinclusion, at our events.
As an introverted leader, I’ve learned that influence doesn’t always come from being the most vocal. It comes from being intentional, listening deeply, and creating meaningful impact behind the scenes. I don’t always have all the answers—but I’ve discovered that I don’t have to. Within our chapter and the broader MPI global network, I’ve found a strong community of people I can learn from, collaborate with, and lean on. Along the way, I’ve also built lasting friendships that have made the journey even more meaningful.
My local involvement opened the door to global opportunities. I served as Vice-Chair of the Global EDI Advisory Committee and helped lead the development of MPI’s global Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion training for chapter leaders and boards. This training is designed to foster collaboration across chapters and support lasting change—advancing EDI as a core pillar of MPI’s mission worldwide.
