IMEX America 2018: 5 Questions with Eric Rozenberg

By Semaj Watts | Oct 15, 2018

Meeting and event industry professionals from all over the world have gathered in Las Vegas for IMEX America, the largest industry trade show in the United States. Among the attendees is MPI-South Florida chapter member Eric Rozenberg, president and CEO of Event Business Formula, who sat down with us.

You’re very into face-to-face meetings. What do you think is the most important thing about having face-to-face meetings?
We are human beings. You can take any business challenges, you can take any breakthrough discovery, you can take any political decision, you can take anything for motivating people, aligning your team, relationship with your customer, anything in life if you don’t have a face-to-face you are not succeeding. We are human beings who need to meet. Zoom is great, but I don’t see your reaction on Zoom. It’s the aspect of face-to-face plus the motivation, the fact that you’re not alone. You are sharing with other people.

You’ve accomplished so much, is there anything left on your bucket list?
I don’t have a bucket list. You’ve never done it all, ever. I think if it’s in your mindset the day you believe you’ve done it all you die. It’s the mindset, it’s the attitude. It’s not I want to do this, or I want to do that, it’s maybe I’ll do it, maybe I won’t.

What do you enjoying doing?
What I like is showing the world to my daughters with my wife. We’ve done India this past summer. In two years, we are going to do Africa. That’s what I want to do with them.

What advice do you have for people that want to be as successful as you in the business world?
I would say know who you are and what your values are because your integrity is what will make you not only succeed but you will always be able to look at yourself in the mirror. Also, be kind to everyone because you never know what is going to happen. The friends you study and work with now you never know. They are the ones who are going to hire you and help you.

What’s next for you?
Not retirement. I’m launching an online course in January.  The course is for independent planners and business owners in our industry. Everything is on planning an event better. I think if we want to be a strategic partner if we want to raise the level of what we do in the industry and if independent planners and independent business owners want to be able to manage their business and see further then there needs to be a context, a system, where not only you learn but you have a group that you can rely onto.
