Vince LaRuffa—one of MPI’s 50th anniversary “Legacy Contributors”—reflects on some of his MPI history.
My MPI journey began in a conversation with my friend and colleague Dave Gabri. I had mentioned to Dave my interest in giving back to the industry, and I was aware of his involvement with MPI. Dave suggested I consider applying for the MPI Foundation Board of Trustees. I think that was probably the very best decision I ever made in terms of industry involvement. Why? It led to an opportunity to work closely with other industry leaders to raise funds for a foundation and organization we all believed in. It allowed for the formation of deep-seated relationships that became lifelong friendships. The people I worked with on MPI’s IBOD and MPI Foundation’s Board of Trustees have enriched my life beyond description.
As the years have passed, these friendships have formed the basis for many opportunities to share resources, to help someone in need, and to further professionalize the industry we all depend on for our livelihood. I am extremely proud of my affiliation with MPI, and hope to stay connected for years to come. The current leadership is second to none, and I predict even greater things ahead.
