Event Crisis Communications Certificate Program

When Crisis Strikes, Does Your Event Have a Communications Plan?

Meeting professionals aren’t responsible for communications during a crisis … right?  Wrong.

As a meeting and event professional, you hold a variety of roles. And if a crisis occurs, those roles include the coordination of the emergency management team, the determination of next steps and the consultation, management and direction of the communication process. Your marketing team won’t necessarily know the best communication streams to use, which ones are available, how best to communicate and when. If those responsibilities fall on you, are you prepared to act when a crisis happens?

MPI’s Event Crisis Communications Certificate Program will teach you how to use time-sensitive communications channels, including social media, when it really matters. The basic steps of effective crisis communications are not difficult, but they do require advance work to minimize risk and damage. Learn how to create a crisis communications plan for your event, make critical decisions for your organization and experience an exercise in real-time crisis communications.

Course Details

In the wake of recent crises, how we communicate to our attendees is something we can no longer overlook.

This course demonstrates why meeting professionals must ensure that there is a crisis communications plan in place (and assert their roles as leaders on the team that creates it), that spokespeople are trained to respond in the moment and that their organizations are ready to communicate to attendees across multiple platforms.

The program will instruct how to develop a communications plan that includes three things:

1) Auditing vulnerabilities.

2) Training spokespeople.

3) Establishing a means of communicating.
